In this role, you will bridge the gap between robust backend architecture and cutting-edge artificial intelligence team.You will not only maintain and scale our core Ruby on Rails ecosystem and enterprise GraphQL APIs but also design, implement, and integrate AI/ML capabilities—such as Large Language Models (LLMs), predictive analytics, and semantic search—directly into our product line. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, love shipping code weekly, and want to lead the charge in embedding financial intelligence into modern web applications, we want to talk to you.Core ResponsibilitiesArchitect & Scale APIs: Design, build, and optimize high-throughput GraphQL APIs tailored for seamless consumption by high-performance Single Page Applications (SPAs), integrating directly into Intuit's unified service ecosystem.Backend Excellence: Write clean, maintainable, and efficient Ruby on Rails code while managing complex database schemas and heavy optimization in PostgreSQL.Rapid Deployment: Collaborate with an agile team to ship high-quality code on a weekly release cycle, balancing speed with enterprise-grade architectural integrity.Product & UX Collaboration: Actively participate in product ideation, offering proactive feedback on user experience, system capabilities, and technical feasibility to champion customer prosperityTechnical Requirements & SkillsBackend & Enterprise Infrastructure (Intuit Tech Stack)Ruby on Rails Expertise: Deep, production-proven experience building and scaling enterprise-grade Rails applicationsAdvanced GraphQL: Extensive experience developing scalable GraphQL APIs for SPAs (experience with federated architecture or extensive schema stitching is a major plus)Advanced Database Management: Expert-level knowledge of SQL, with a specific focus on PostgreSQL optimization, indexing, complex querying, and handling high-volume transactiondata.Cloud & DevOps: Solid understanding of AWS cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and deploying containerized applications via Docker and KubernetesEnvironment: Comfortable engineering within Mac and Linux-based development environments.AI / Machine Learning (Preffered)AI Integration & Tooling: Practical experience embedding AI features using LangChain (or LangChainRb), OpenAI/Anthropic APIs, or custom internal GenAI frameworksVector Search & Databases: Familiarity with implementing semantic search, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and managing embeddings using tools like pgvector or dedicated vector storesData Pipelines: Experience handling data preprocessing, real-time data streaming, and pipelining for machine learning modeSoft Skills & Culture FitProduct Mindset: Passionate about user experience, highly empathetic to small business and consumer needs, and confident in advocating for architectural or UX improvemen.Growth Mentality: An eagerness to learn, experiment with, and adopt emerging technologies, languages, and frameworks during company-wide innovation weeks (Global Engineering DayDrive & Collaboration: A positive, self-motivated attitude with a proven track record of thriving in fast-paced, iterative environments.What We OfferHybrid Flexibility: Work from our Mountain View, CA location with the flexibility of a hybrid scheduleHigh Impact: Direct ownership of core features and the autonomy to shape our AI/ML fintech product roadmapModern Stack: Work with cutting-edge tools in a collaborative, tech-forward engineering culture recognized globally for developer productivity.
