The Secondary Education/ Z-Life Coordinator supports middle and high school teens. The incumbent will help participants gain knowledge, skills, and be connected to opportunities that build their social capital, increase employability, and sustain independence. The ideal candidate would support programming, events, and initiatives that aid participants to seek/obtain employment, pursue entrepreneurship, and connect with Career & Technical Education (CTE) or other post-secondary education plans. The Secondary Education/Z-Life Coordinator will support graduating participants of the program, to develop a viable post-secondary plan. The person in this role must embody Peter Paul’s values and share a passion for the mission by developing and overseeing a high quality, safe experience for all the students. Primary Responsibilities
Perform outreach with key stakeholder groups and prospective participants
Create and/or administer curriculum-based activities/programs (to include workforce and durable skills development) for Z-Life participants
Facilitate in-person learning opportunities for program participants which can be in collaboration with other subject-matter deemed service providers
Assess participant needs and develop individualized plans outlining employment, entrepreneurial and/or personal goals, and other post-academic plans towards independence
Provide plan coordination for each participant to include identification of employment and post-secondary barriers, identification of training opportunities, ongoing educational assessment, career planning, referral and support services, and periodic evaluation of planned goals and accomplishments
Prepare and maintain a variety of reports for internal and external reporting purposes
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Experience working with the Virginia Standards of Learning ( VDOE)
Understanding of and familiarity working in an urban setting
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Education (preferred) or equivalent work experience in youth development (minimum 2 years)
Experience working with both teens and young adults
Experience with workforce development, mental health and trauma informed care (required)
Experience in project leadership to include planning, leading, and managing projects, including coordinating with multiple stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes, and tracking and reporting on progress (required)
Knowledge of resources connected to program outcomes that support the success of participants
Effective at working with partners in diverse and complex networks to reach common goals and objectives
Strong interpersonal communications and mediating skills
Ability to confront challenging obstacles to achieve a resolution to problems
Sensitivity to issues around equity, project leadership, collaboration, diversity & inclusion, and relationship building
Capacity to maintain integrity and confidentiality of program outcomes & participant information
Work collaboratively with the Director of Education and Program Coordinator on programming and curriculum for students
Develop, implement and manage a comprehensive student tutoring program
Enter data and create reports for Education Department
Support with the coordination of external vendors to provide academic and enrichment experiences for students
Serve as liaison with Family and Community Engagement Team
