Product Development Manager (Batavia, OH - relo provided)We are seeking a Product Development Manager to play a critical role in launching and scaling product development capabilities at a brand-new, highly automated food manufacturing facility. This is a hands-on, build-from-scratch role focused on developing, testing, and commercializing products from concept through plant-scale production. You will work closely with an established international team, with significant travel to Canada (50–60%) required through 2026 for training, integration, and knowledge transfer. This is a unique opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, startup-style environment and is excited to help build processes, systems, and products from the ground up.Key ResponsibilitiesLead product development from benchtop through commercialization and plant-scale productionDevelop recipes and formulas using existing and emerging ingredients, technologies, and processesSupport plant trials, scale-up activities, and product launches as the facility ramps upEnsure all formulations and processes meet regulatory, food safety, and quality standardsBuild and lead sensory evaluation programs, including panel training and product assessmentsConduct market research, store visits, and competitive benchmarking to inform innovationPartner cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Sales, and MarketingCollaborate closely with international teams to transfer knowledge and implement best practicesHelp establish product development processes and systems in a startup/greenfield environmentTroubleshoot technical product and production challenges as neededExperience & QualificationsBackground in Food Science, Culinary, or a related field1–5+ years of experience in product development, R&D, or formulation within the food industryExposure to scaling products from concept to production (preferred, not required)Understanding of ingredient functionality, food safety, and regulatory requirementsHands-on experience in both lab and plant environments is a strong plusStrong project management and organizational skillsExcellent communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional and global teamsTravel Requirement (Critical)50–60% travel to Canada through 2026 for onboarding, training, and integrationCompany support provided for travel logistics, including housing and visa sponsorshipThis is a non-negotiable, core component of the role and critical for long-term success
