Electrical / Embedded Test Engineer (Test Design)

Our client is among the Top Global AI and Robotics Manufacturers. This is a multi-year contract with high likelihood of conversion to FTE (full-time employment).Onsite in Irvine CA is required.SUMMARY:Embedded Test Engineers will focus on designing, automating, and scaling functional test systems across the product lifecycle—from board bring-up to End-of-Line (EOL) production. They bridge hardware design, firmware, and automated test software.Key ResponsibilitiesTest System Architecture & Design: Design and deliver turnkey hardware and software test fixtures (test benches, automated test equipment/ATE) for PCBAs, sensors, and embedded control modules.Automation & Scripting: Write automated test scripts in Python, C/C++, C#, or LabVIEW to execute unit-level and system-level test routines automatically.Firmware & Hardware Bring-Up: Collaborate with firmware, software, and electrical hardware teams during early-stage board bring-up, debugging bus communications, and validating peripheral connectivity.Test Strategy & DFT (Design for Test): Define test plans optimizing product reliability, safety, and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) coverage; provide direct feedback to design engineers to ensure hardware is manufacturable and testable.Data Analysis & Root Cause Analysis: Analyze test yields and telemetry data; debug electrical, firmware, and communication failures.Key QualificationsEducation: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical discipline.Technical Experience: 3–5+ years in hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing, PCBA test design, and automated test environments.Schematic & Layout: Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout (e.g., Altium Designer).Protocols & Interfaces: Proficiency with bus protocols like SPI, I2C, CAN, Ethernet, PCIe, UART, USB, and CSI.Instrumentation: Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, RF spectrum analyzers/VNAs, and power supplies.OPTIONAL: Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance (Secret / Top Secret)
