Position Type:Facility Services- Para/Manual/Maintenance GeneralDate Posted:1/15/2025Location:Facility Services CenterDate Available:Spring 2025Closing Date:Until FilledPay Grade: 45B (Minimum $20.17/hourly)Work Days: 260PRIMARY PURPOSE:Supply the labor and expertise required to repair or construct projects assigned to Facility Services, using knowledge of the basic principles of electricity, painting, carpentry, plumbing and HVAC.QUALIFICATIONS:Education/Certification:High school diploma or equivalent (required)Valid Texas driver's licenseDriving record that is insurable by Plano ISD's insurance carrierCertifications in electricity, painting, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC (preferred)SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:Knowledge of electricity, painting, carpentry, plumbing and HVACAbility to communicate effectively with all people in a courteous and positive mannerAbility to demonstrate leadership qualities and be a positive role model for the departmentAbility to read and understand EnglishAbility to practice safe working habitsExperience:Four years of experience in carpentry and general maintenanceMAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:Work in various areas and multiple craftsPerform preventive maintenance functionsMaintain an inventory on material and labor usedWork with technicians to ensure that all building needs are fulfilledDrive Plano ISD vehicle to inspect work sites, transport materials, and perform required labor on all projectsDevelop and follow safety rules and procedures as well as assume the responsibility that others follow these rulesFollow all rules, regulations and policies of Plano ISD and follow directives from supervisorFollow attendance policy as assigned by supervisorPerform other functions that may be assigned by the administration and/or supervisorEquipment Used:Uses hand tools and portable power tools, radial arm saws and measuring devisesOperates Plano ISD's vehiclesWORKING CONDITIONS:Mental Demands:Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written)Ability to maintain emotional control under stressPhysical Demands/Environmental Factors:Frequent lifting and carrying anywhere from15-50 poundsFrequent twisting, reaching above shoulder, bending, climbing, and kneelingManual dexterity to complete projects in a craftsman fashionwork outside under conditions of inclement weather; excessive heat and coldExcessive noise, intermittentDust, work around machinery with moving parts; work on ladders or scaffoldingMust be able to tolerate solvents, paint, and paint thinner odors, glue, and glue odors
