Senior Project Estimator – Industrial Controls & Instrumentation

Location: Humble, TXACE Controls is looking for a Senior Project Estimator to join our Humble, TX team with deep experience in industrial controls, instrumentation, and electrical (I&E) systems to lead the development of accurate, execution-ready project estimates.This is a hands-on, senior-level role responsible for translating complex technical scope into clear, competitive, and executable pricing. You will work directly with engineering, project management, vendors, and clients to ensure estimates are aligned with real-world project delivery.What You Will DoEstimate Development & ExecutionLead end-to-end estimate development from drawing review through final proposal submission Analyze technical documentation including P&IDs, loop diagrams, electrical one-lines, and control schematics Develop detailed estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontracted work Apply sound judgment to scope interpretation, pricing strategy, and cost drivers Scope, Risk & Commercial AlignmentIdentify gaps, assumptions, exclusions, and project risks during estimate developmentEnsure estimates are aligned with constructability, schedule, and execution strategyParticipate in pre-bid reviews and internal estimate reviewsVendor & Stakeholder CollaborationInterface with vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers to obtain pricing and technical inputCollaborate with engineering and project management to ensure alignment between design and execution Support client communication as needed to clarify scope and requirementsContinuous ImprovementMaintain and leverage historical cost data and estimating tools Track awarded projects and compare estimated vs. actual costs to improve accuracy Identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving alternativesRequired QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training preferred Minimum 5+ years of experience in estimating or project costing within industrial controls, automation, or I&E environments Strong knowledge of industrial automation systems (PLC/DCS), instrumentation, and electrical systems Proven ability to perform hands-on estimating for complex technical projects Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications independently Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously Strong communication skills across technical and commercial stakeholdersPreferred QualificationsExperience with Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider, or similar control systems Background in industrial manufacturing, process industries, or water/wastewater Field experience as an electrician, controls technician, or commissioning engineer Familiarity with NEC, UL508A, and industry safety standards What Sets You ApartStrong technical and commercial judgmentAbility to own estimates end-to-end and stand behind your numbersDetail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and constructabilityComfortable working in a deadline-driven, bid environmentPractical, solutions-focused approach to complex technical scopeWhy ACE ControlsWork on complex industrial automation and controls projectsDirect impact on project success, profitability, and execution qualityCollaborative, technically driven team environmentOpportunities for continued growth into lead estimating or commercial rolesEmployment Type & Hiring NoticeACE Controls does not engage with external recruitment agenciesThis is a direct hire, full-time position and does not support C2C or 1099 contract arrangements.ACE Controls is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to fostering an inclusive and respectful workplace.
