Maintenance Mechanic

Responsibilities Perform preventive maintenance and execute major/minor repairs on all mechanical equipment within the plant. Secure, isolate, and tag equipment requiring repair or maintenance before commencing work. Inspect plant equipment to evaluate condition and operational status. Fabricate scaffolding and perform high rigging as required for maintenance and repair tasks. Maintain electric hydraulic control systems efficiently. Assist in specifying and ordering necessary maintenance materials and supplies. Contribute to the preparation of monthly maintenance reports. Support the training and development of new or less experienced staff members. Provide assistance to other work groups as needed. Required Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent. Minimum of three (3) years of experience in mechanical maintenance. Proficiency in operating and maintaining shop equipment and tools. Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, schematic drawings, diagrams, and instruction manuals. Effective working knowledge of plant maintenance systems and recordkeeping. Ability to use a wide variety of hand tools and measuring instruments. Capability to operate mobile equipment such as man lifts, forklifts, and trucks. Preferred Qualifications Additional mechanical-related training. Key Competencies Technical/Professional Knowledge & Skills Safety Awareness Contributing to Team Success Decision Making Work Standards Building a Successful Team Initiating Action Working Conditions On-Call position; must have residential telephone and live within one and a half (1.5) hours of the plant. Valid driver's license required. Non-scheduled overtime is a normal part of the job. Regular lifting up to 100 lbs. and occasional lifting over 100 lbs. required. Work at heights on ladders, gratings, and platforms. Exposure to noise, heat over 100 degrees, gas emissions, chemical vapors, dust, high-pressure lines, and high voltage equipment. Must pass an aptitude test and physical ability test. Adhere to procedures for wearing a respirator and other personal protective equipment.
