Sports Coordinator - Jackie Robinson

OverviewThe Sports Coordinator will supervise and coordinate youth and adult sports programming. The Coordinator's responsibilities include youth and adult program development growth, and coaching staff and volunteers. The Sports Coordinator recruits, trains, manages, and supervises volunteers. The individual will assist in the supervision and development of all youth officials, instructors, and staff for leagues and programs. Responsibilities also extend to youth sports outreach and supervision, and the development of new programming. The Sports Coordinator is responsible for promoting league participation and developing all youth and adult league/clinic schedules and rosters in a timely manner.For information on Y Employee Perks, click on this link: Employee Benefits | YMCA of San Diego County (ymcasd.org)ScheduleLocation: Jackie Robinson Family YMCA - National CityPart-time: Mondays: 12:00pm-5:00pm, Tuesdays: 12:00pm-5:00pm, Wednesday: 12:00pm-5:30pm, Saturday: 9:00am- 2:30pm, Sunday: 8:30am- 3:30pm ResponsibilitiesOversee all aspects of all youth and adult sports programs. Includes volunteer training and supervision, league promotion and outreach, scheduling, coaching, and coordinationAssist overseeing all aspects of the development and implementation of youth and adult leagues in partnership with inside and outside organizationsPerform high volume data entry for program registrationsAssist with the organization and attend department meetings and trainingsDevelop schedules, rosters, and other league related materialsCoordinate seasonal parent, team, and coaches' packets and meetingsWork with school districts, outside vendors, schools, partners and branchesMaintain positive relationship with staff, participants, volunteers, and parents communicating regularlyWork closely and communicate effectively with sports staff, maintenance, and membership staffTake the lead with volunteers and program promotion in outreach to achieve program growth objectivesCreate, collect, and track league evaluations and surveys for continued improvementCoordinate all aspects of VIP and picture day for youth programs each seasonCreate fliers and use other tools to market sports programming to the communityEnsure fliers are up to date and distributed and posted on an ongoing basis. Promote healthy values and leadership skills in participantsResponsible for the safety and proper maintenance of program equipment and program areasComplete understanding and full responsibility for opening and closing duties of the facility and sports program areasObserve, follow and administer YMCA of San Diego County policies and proceduresMust have the ability to lead, control, and administer youth and adult leagues in an organized and professional mannerAbility to sufficiently supervise and interact with adults and enforce safety standardsVisual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergencyAbility to adequately observe participant activities and enforce safety regulations, and apply appropriate policies and proceduresMust have capability to multitask in a fast-paced environmentFlexible schedule - must be available to work weekends, nights and daysOther duties as assigned QualificationsMinimum 2+ years' of experience working in a sports settingPrevious experience managing a children's recreation program or day camp programPrevious experience managing adult programmingExperience and/or familiarity with the rules and sports (to include but not limited to) basketball, soccer, football, baseball, softball, track and field, cheer, volleyball and field hockeyProven history and ability working with groups of children ages 2-17, adults 18 and up, parents, volunteers, and staffProven administrative skills with computers and telephone customer service to correspond to a high volume of phone calls and emails in a professional and timely mannerLicensing, state law and our government funders require that staff within YMCA of San Diego County be fingerprinted, prior to reporting to work, and include subsequent arrest notificationsCPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, obtained within 30 days of hire and must be from one of the following certifying organizations:American Red CrossAmerican Heart AssociationAmerican Safety & Health InstituteYMCA will consider qualified applicants with a criminal history pursuant to the San Diego County Fair Chance Ordinance and the California Fair Chance Act.
