Assistant Project Manager

We design, install, integrate, and service a wide variety of communication systems for manufacturing, educational, health care, governmental, and religious facilities.Summary: The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for preparing and completing bid documents and cost estimates for low voltage/technology projects. In this role the Project Engineer will manage multiple tasks, work well under time constraints, and adapt to changing priorities with a positive attitude. The Assistant Project Manager is self-motivated, proactive, and an effective team player able to interact professionally with all levels of employees, management, vendors, customers, and others.Primary Location: Rockford, ILPrimary Responsibilities:Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.Design/specify components for low voltage systems such as access control, CCTV, intrusion, and fire alarm systems.Prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work and entering items into computer estimating system, review bill of materials for accuracy and completeness.Request quotes from suppliers for equipment and materials.Identify qualified suppliers/subcontractors and solicit quotes.Review quotes for completeness with plans and specifications.Itemize and quantify all incidentals necessary in preparing the bid packages including sub-contract work, equipment rental, tools, and supplies.Prior to the issuing of the formal bid package, provide to the Division Manager a detailed review of scope, technical requirements, and pricing for the estimated bid package.Responsible for the timely completion of all client-required documents including submittals, layout drawings, as-built drawings and operation and maintenance manuals.Responsible to assist with the creation and flow of any change orders during the life of the project.Draft scope letter inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications for estimates.Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures.Other duties as assigned by Division Manager.Education and / or Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Project Management, Electronics, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering preferred.General knowledge of computer network structure and configuration, including network setup, active directory, WLAN and VLAN configurations.Experience in estimating, or in closing construction estimates.Proficient in Microsoft software (Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio, and PowerPoint).Experience with Procore or similar document/project management software preferred.CAD/Drafting experience helpful, but not required.Ability to read and interpret blueprints and/or engineer design drawings.Ability to perform arithmetic calculations required for estimating.Excellent writing, organization, prioritization, and communication skills.Positive attitude and ability to navigate in a fast-paced environment.
