By living the Amtrak values, focusing on our capabilities, and actively embracing and fostering diverse ideas, backgrounds, and perspectives, together we will honor our past and make Amtrak a company of the future.Job SummaryResponsible for maintenance and servicing of Amtrak's locomotives and facilities in accordance with FRA, FDA, and Amtrak standards and guidelines.Essential FunctionsPerforms services on locomotives and equipment such as sanding, cleaning, washing, and scrapingEmpties waste retention system, trash receptacles and properly disposes of hazardous waste material in accordance with FDA/Amtrak standards and guidelinesPerforms shop maintenance and functions as motor equipment operatorUses and operates light cranes, tractors, forklifts, and similar equipmentMaintain shop/yard cleanlinessMaintain proper care and use of materials, equipment, machines and hand tools normally associated with assigned jobMinimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or GEDExperience in manual laborSuccessfully complete training and attain/retain certifications applicable to jobValid driver's license required for locations where necessary to operate company vehicle and motorized equipmentExperience operating cranes, power tools and hydraulic chain/sling rigging equipment preferredPreferred QualificationsKnowledge of general/manual laborer dutiesAbility to operate cranes, tractors, and forkliftsAbility to read, write and communicate proficientlySome computer skillsCommunications and Interpersonal SkillsMust have excellent written and oral communication skillsPhysical Requirements/Environmental ConditionsThe hourly range is $29.07 – $34.20 (with opportunity for increases, as per the applicable collective bargaining agreement, after beginning employment).
