Jobsite Safety and Service Representative
DescriptionJOB SUMMARYThe Site Safety Representative acts as a dual-purpose champion for both operational integrity and external relations. This role is uniquely designed to balance 50% proactive safety leadership and 50% high-level customer service. You will be the face of Martin Marietta on-site, ensuring that every employee returns home safely while simultaneously ensuring that every customer, vendor, and contractor receives world-class service. By merging technical safety expertise with a "customer-first" mindset, you will facilitate a culture where compliance and excellence in service go hand-in-hand.Key Duties And ResponsibilitiesEnsure site-wide adherence to OSHA and Martin Marietta’s internal "Guardian Angel" safety standards. Conduct daily "high-visibility" safety walks and inspections to identify and mitigate physical and behavioral hazards. Lead the reporting and investigation of any near-misses or incidents, performing root-cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions. Review truck washout areas for adequate drainage, walking surface, tracking pad, and lighting. Facilitate site-specific safety orientations for new hires, contractors, and visitors, ensuring they are fully equipped to work safely in an asphalt/industrial environment. Oversee the inspection and maintenance of safety equipment, including PPE, fire suppression systems, and first-aid supplies. Assist management in developing and updating Safe Operating Procedures based on evolving site needs. Facilitate and organize in-house safety meetings. Serve as the primary point of contact for customers and haulage contractors, resolving logistics issues or site access concerns with professionalism and urgency. Maximize delivery efficiencies through customer focused coordination of site related events. Anticipate the relocation of concrete placement pumps, areas of congestion, and communication with central dispatch as it pertains to the customer’s unload rate, agreed upon “hold” volumes and/or order back yardage. Manage the check-in process for all external parties, ensuring a seamless, welcoming, and safe transition from the gate to the loading zone. Mediate and resolve any disputes or service delays on-site, ensuring customers feel valued even during high-traffic or operational challenges. Represent Martin Marietta’s values in every interaction, building long-term trust with local vendors and community stakeholders. Act as a bridge between the sales team and site operations, providing real-time updates to customers regarding product availability and loading times. Proactively gather customer feedback regarding site efficiency and safety, reporting insights to the management team to drive continuous improvement. QualificationsEducationHigh school diploma, GED, or relevant experienceACI Field Testing Level I Certification is highly preferred.Work Experience1+ years of experience in Construction, Heavy Building Material, or Asphalt is required; 2+ years of Asphalt focused experience is preferred.Knowledge, Skills, And AbilitiesSafety & health knowledgeOSHA compliance and regulationsRegulatory complianceEffective communicator (written and spoken)Customer serviceCollaborationMicrosoft OfficeAdditional DetailsPhysical RequirementsMust be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. for plant maintenance and equipment servicing.Required to bend, stoop, climb, and reach. You must be able to maintain three points of contact when climbing on/off machinery or on ladders.Strong hand-eye-foot coordination is essential for operating hand/foot controls. You must have good depth perception with or without seeing aid for distances up to 150 feet.Working ConditionsAll duties require outside assignments and require periods of work in all weather conditions-heat, cold, wet or dry, and dusty.
