Material Handler
Summary:
The incumbent is part of a team who are dedicated to; safety; the care of assets; and maintaining the efficiency needed to produce quality finished goods on time and in full. The material handler simultaneously assists with operating one or more extrusion lines safely, ensuring material to the line is delivered timely and safely, while controlling and troubleshooting various process attributes ensuring required parameters stay within optimum tolerance to make quality finished goods that meet specifications and support the team(s) goals. Working as a team and supporting fellow employees ensuring production goals are met, is key in this position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The material handler (as part of the manufacturing team) performs the following essential functions. These examples do not include all duties which the employee is expected to perform but rather highlight key expectations for the position and the incumbent.
Operate a forklift safely.
Performs daily check of forklift before operating.
Delivers material to the line efficiently, safely and timely.
Assist machine operators.
Serve as back up operator whenever needed.
Accurately complete daily production line documentation
To notify the Supervisor/Manager/Maintenance immediately if you believe additional support is needed with regards to machine/equipment repairs verbally and via work requests.
Provide significant hands-on contribution to machine repairs, as needed.
Ensure the processes run stable at a standard speed/output.
Maintain clean orderly equipment and work areas.
Develop his/her working knowledge of the extrusion process and its sub-parts.
Understand, and properly interpret process conditions adjusting as needed, to keep finished goods within quality specifications and aligned to our food safety planning.
Is responsible for running equipment in a safe way and for meeting all production KPIs
Perform other duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications:
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent. (Work experience may be substituted for diploma)
OSHA forklift certification is a plus
Minimum of 1-2 years forklift experience
Must have effective basic computer skills.
Must have effective written and verbal communication skills in English
Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
Physical Requirements:
· Work requires normal manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination
· Corrected hearing and vision to the normal acceptable range
· Production area is not climate controlled and may experience extreme temperatures
· Ability to climb stairs and ladders
· Driving of cars, trucks, forklifts, or other equipment may be needed
· Working at heights, climbing ladders and stairs required
· Ear plugs, hard hat, gloves, and high-temperature protective gear required
· Use of all PPE protection as required
· 8-10 hours per day of standing and/or walking
· Perform a variety of manual tasks for an extended period of time which may include light or heavy lifting, bending, squatting, kneeling, crawling and twisting
