Senior Embedded Hardware Security Engineer

Overview In this role you will apply advanced hardware reverse engineering to assess embedded systems for national significance. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to prototype measurement tools, automate lab experiments, and develop countermeasures against emerging threats. You’ll contribute to cutting-edge embedded security research and share findings with sponsors and stakeholders. ResponsibilitiesPerform hands-on security assessments of embedded systemsDesign and build prototypes to measure and instrument board- and component-level interfacesDevelop software to orchestrate complex lab experiments and data collectionResearch and develop new approaches for embedded threats and security countermeasuresShape ideas through internal research programs to advance hardware securityTrack and apply advances in hardware security analysis to secure sponsor systemsCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams on embedded security research and co-designLead tasks and/or teams of engineersCommunicate technical approaches, risks, and results to sponsors and stakeholdersProvide technical mentorship to junior engineers Key requirementsBachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 5 years of related experience; or Master’s/PhD and 3 years of experienceExperience with embedded system tear-down, board-level reverse engineering, vulnerability analysis, and circuit modificationsExperience with board- and component-level instrumentation, measurement, and protocol analysisExperience with PCB design, layout, and component packaging understandingExperience with software development (C/C++, Python)Understanding of protections against physical attacks (secure boot, tamper sensing, key storage, memory encryption, debug disablement)Ability to work independently in collaborative environmentsEffective oral and written communication skillsEligibility for US government security investigation and Department of Defense SECRET clearanceU.S. Citizenship required for security clearanceOn-site work 4 days/weekstrong collaborationmentorshiporal and written communicationembedded system tear-downboard- and component-level instrumentationC/C++, Python
