Payroll & Benefits Manager
We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Payroll & Benefits Manager to oversee and manage all payroll operations and employee benefits programs for our growing mid-sized logistics company. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing while delivering competitive and well-administered benefits programs that support employee satisfaction and retention.The ideal candidate brings strong payroll leadership experience, deep knowledge of multi-state compliance, and hands-on experience with Paycom HRIS and payroll systems.Responsibilities: Payroll ManagementManage end-to-end payroll processing for multi-state workforce (hourly, salaried, exempt/non-exempt employees)Administer payroll through Paycom, including configuration, reporting, audits, and system optimizationEnsure timely and accurate payroll processing in compliance with federal, state, and local regulationsOversee payroll tax filings, garnishments, deductions, and year-end processes (W-2s, 1099s)Maintain payroll records and ensure data integrityLead payroll audits and coordinate with Finance for reconciliations and reportingStay current on wage and hour laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirementsBenefits AdministrationOversee administration of health, dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k), and ancillary benefitsAssist managing open enrollment processesServe as primary liaison with benefit brokers and vendorsEnsure compliance with ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, and other applicable regulationsAnalyze benefits utilization and costs; recommend enhancements or cost-saving strategiesSupport employee inquiries related to payroll, deductions, and benefits coverageDevelop and improve payroll and benefits processes for efficiency and scalabilityCompliance & ReportingMaintain compliance with federal and state employment lawsPrepare payroll and benefits reports for leadershipAssist with audits, including workers’ compensation and 401(k) auditsMaintain internal controls and process documentationQualifications: RequiredBachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field5+ years of progressive payroll experience, including 2+ years in a managerial or lead roleHands-on experience administering payroll through PaycomExperience processing multi-state payroll for 500+ employeesStrong knowledge of wage and hour laws, payroll tax regulations, and benefits complianceExperience managing benefit programs and open enrollment processesAdvanced proficiency in payroll reporting and data analysisHigh level of accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detailPreferredCPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certificationExperience in logistics, transportation, warehousing, or distribution environmentsExperience with high-volume hourly workforce and variable compensation structuresKey CompetenciesStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExceptional organizational skills and attention to detailAbility to manage sensitive information with discretionStrong communication and employee service orientationProcess-driven with continuous improvement mindsetPay: 95k-105k per year
