To fulfill this role, teachers:Teach in line with the school's mission and visionMaintain accurate records of student progressUtilize consistent and fair classroom management strategiesAdhere to and uphold MCS discipline policiesParticipate regularly in staff meetingsParticipate in a personal growth plan tied to the school's professional development planCreate lesson plans aligned to state standardsCommunicate regularly with families regarding student progressAnalyze student data to drive instruction and track student progressAdhere to the requirements of IEP, 504, and SAT plans when applicableComply with school policies and proceduresHold NM certification and be highly qualified in the assigned subject, grade, or content areaProfessional expectations:Check and respond to emailThe primary means of communication with MCS staff is email. The MCS Lead Team will send out weekly announcements and other important information using MCS email. It is expected that all staff members regularly check and respond to emails. Email, phone calls, and other communication methods are also appropriate as needed.AttendanceDaily attendance (hourly attendance for secondary staff) is a requirement for MCS teaching staff. Teachers are required to submit accurate attendance records daily. If attendance cannot be taken at the beginning of a class period, it should be completed no later than the end of the school day.Reporting student gradesIt is the responsibility of all teaching staff to update PowerSchool within five (5) school days of any test, quiz, or assignment due date. Teachers are expected to post at least one (1) standards-based grade each week. A maximum of three (3) grades should be posted weekly. Grades should be up-to-date on Monday of each week.Reporting students at-risk for failureIt is the responsibility of the teacher to contact the parent(s) or guardian(s) by telephone, email, or written notice when a student is at risk of failure. This should happen as soon as possible and not after the student no longer has an opportunity to get back on track. Students receive a progress report at the end of each 9 week period.Lesson plansAll instructional staff are expected to create and use lesson plans aligned to NM standards and benchmarks, and MCS developed scope and sequence.
