EHS Engineer

The Company's portfolio of core technology and products offer uniquecapabilities in the areas of high-performance computing, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity as well as remote sensing applications.Position DescriptionThrough direction from the EHS Director, the EHS Engineer is responsible for managingthe day-to-day environmental, health, and safety operations at QCi's four semiconductormanufacturing facilities in New Jersey and Massachusetts. This role requires a strongenvironmental compliance background and encompasses hazardous materialsmanagement, chemical inventory control, emergency response readiness, andregulatory compliance activities. The successful candidate will play a hands-on role inmaintaining a safe work environment while ensuring the facility meets all applicablefederal, state, and local EHS regulations. The role will be based in Bedford, MA locationand travel to the other locations as needed with 25-30% travel expected.Duties and Responsibilities• Oversee weekly eyewash/emergency shower and monthly fire extinguisherinspections across all sites; perform inspections directly at Bedford and ensurecompletion at remote locations.• Coordinate and schedule hazardous waste pickups with licensed vendors,ensuring proper labeling, storage, and manifesting in accordance with RCRA andapplicable state regulations.• Conduct routine chemical audits to verify on-site quantities, confirm properstorage conditions, and maintain an accurate chemical inventory database.• Oversee the chemical purchasing process by reviewing new chemical requests,assessing hazards, and ensuring proper documentation before materials areapproved and ordered.• Serve as an active member of the hazardous spill response team at the Bedford,MA location, responding to chemical spills and releases and performing cleanupin accordance with established procedures.• Oversee environmental compliance programs including air permitting, stormwatermanagement, wastewater discharge monitoring, and waste minimizationinitiatives as needed.• Assist with regulatory reporting and recordkeeping for environmental programssuch as Tier II, TRI, and hazardous waste generator requirements as needed.• Conduct workplace safety inspections and audits, identifying hazards andrecommending corrective actions.• Oversee the administration and delivery of EHS training programs for employees,including hazard communication, chemical safety, and emergency responseprocedures.• Maintain and update Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and ensure the SDS library iscurrent and accessible.• Assist with incident investigations, root cause analyses, and the implementationof corrective and preventive actions.• Oversee industrial hygiene monitoring activities, including noise surveys, airsampling, and ergonomic assessments as needed.Required Skills and Experience• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering,Industrial Hygiene, or science discipline.• 5+ years of experience in an EHS role within a manufacturing or semiconductorenvironment preferably in an ISO class 4 clean room environment.• Strong environmental compliance background with working knowledge of EPA,OSHA, RCRA, DOT, and applicable state and local regulations.• Hands-on experience with hazardous waste management, includingaccumulation, labeling, manifesting, and coordinating waste disposal.• Familiarity with chemical inventory management systems and chemical safetypractices.• Experience conducting safety inspections (eyewash stations, emergencyshowers, fire extinguishers) and maintaining inspection records.• Ability to wear and operate Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) andother personal protective equipment (PPE).• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in recordkeeping andregulatory documentation.• Effective communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively acrossdepartments.• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and EHS management software.Preferred Qualifications• 2-3 years of EHS management experience.• OSHA 30 general industry, NFPA 70E Arc Flash, HAZWOPER 40-hourcertification or equivalent emergency response training.• Experience with environmental permitting (air, water, waste) and regulatoryreporting (Tier II, TRI).• Familiarity with NFPA codes, fire protection systems, and life safetyrequirements.• Experience working with 5S, lean manufacturing, or continuous improvementmethodologies.• Strong electrical background, including NFPA 70E program management.• ASP, CSP, CHMM, or other relevant EHS certifications.Incumbent(s) in this position may be required to perform other duties and special assignments not specifically stated above.
