Position Title: Faculty, Human Anatomy and Physiology, General Biology Job Description: POSITION: Faculty, Human Anatomy and Physiology, General Biology STATUS: Full time Tenure track DEPARTMENT: Natural Science/Physical Education DIVISION: Academic Affairs CLASSIFICATION: Exempt UNION: Faculty-AFT Local 604 REPORTS TO: Department Chair PLACEMENT: Placement on salary schedule is dependent on qualifications. HIRING RANGE: Base Compensation Hiring Range for 2026/2027 Academic Year: $63,770-$113,632/annually (9 months). Compensation placement based on education and related teaching/work experience. POSITION SUMMARY Adapt to new and changing situations and demonstrate a positive attitude. Fifteen credit hours a semester constitute a standard load. This position requires evening courses as a portion of the regular teaching load. Position is subject to all terms and provisions of the Joliet Junior College faculty contract. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1.Teach at least three courses in Human Anatomy & Physiology, Human Biology, General Biology and other biology as needed. 2.Work closely with other instructors and special programs and services within the college to determine placements, curriculum, and academic support. 3.Participate in course development, assessment, accreditation, and planning activities. 4.Be willing to teach online and/or blended courses. 5.Be willing to teach evening courses as a portion of the regular teaching load. 6.Participate in appropriate departmental meetings and recruitment activities; serve on committees. 7.Assist students with academic advising. 8.Demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and learning. 9.Demonstrate strong understanding and commitment to the community college mission. 10.Teach at other campus sites as needed. 11.Teach daytime, evening and weekend courses as needed. 12.Participate in professional development opportunities. 13.Meet other contractual obligations as spelled out in the Joliet Junior College faculty contract. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1.All candidates must have a MS or higher in Anatomy and/or Physiology or a closely related field of Biology to meet credentialing criteria. 2.Two (2) years of teaching experience at the collegiate level. 3.Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence. 4.Demonstrated commitment to the college's core values of respect and inclusion, sustainability, integrity, collaboration, humor and well-being, innovation and quality. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 1.Preference will be given to candidates with a PhD in Anatomy and/or Physiology or a closely related field of Biology. 2.Experience at the community college level. 3.Expertise in appropriate technologies for instruction. 4.Experience in teaching online and/or using course management programs. 5.Experience in course development and assessment, planning, quality and accreditation processes, and committee service. 6.Experience with traditional and non-traditional students from diverse backgrounds. 7.English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency. 8.Demonstrated multicultural competence. PHYSICAL DEMANDS 1.Normal classroom and laboratory physical demands. WORKING CONDITIONS 1.Classroom and laboratory teaching environment.
