The ideal candidate will have advanced welding experience working on marine structural steel components aboard commercial or naval vessels. Candidates must be able to perform high-quality welds in multiple positions while meeting shipyard production and quality standards.ResponsibilitiesPerform structural welding on ship hulls, bulkheads, decks, foundations, and other marine steel structuresWeld using FCAW, SMAW, MIG, and Stick welding processes as requiredRead and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, ship drawings, and work specificationsPrepare materials for welding including grinding, beveling, fitting, and alignmentWeld in flat, vertical, horizontal, and overhead positionsEnsure weld quality meets shipyard, NAVSEA, ABS, and customer specificationsInspect completed welds for defects and perform repairs as neededOperate welding machines, grinders, torches, and related fabrication equipment safelyWork closely with shipfitters, supervisors, and quality control personnel to complete projects on scheduleMaintain clean work areas and follow all shipyard safety proceduresQualifications3+ years of marine structural welding experience preferredMust qualify as a 1st Class Structural Welder based on shipyard testing standardsProficient in FCAW and SMAW welding processes requiredAbility to pass multi-position welding tests in accordance with shipyard requirementsStrong ability to read and interpret blueprints and weld symbolsExperience working on commercial, naval, or industrial marine vessels preferredFamiliarity with NAVSEA, ABS, and shipyard welding standards preferredAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionAbility to work in confined spaces, elevated areas, and physically demanding environmentsPreferred CertificationsAWS Welding CertificationOSHA 10 or OSHA 30 CertificationNAVSEA Welding Qualifications preferredShipyard Competent Person Certification a plusBenefitsCompetitive pay with overtime opportunitiesLong-term shipyard projectsEqual Opportunity Employer.
