For over 35 years, Dateline has been a responsive, trusted partner supplying construction material for military, private development projects, wholesale/retail customers, and value‐added logistics services.Job Description:This Sales General Manager role, located in Wilsonville, OR will lead our overall sales activities. This position will lead a well-established sales team to drive ongoing relationships with long-term and new customers in our sales regions. A significant portion of this role will assist our product teams with technical knowledge and problem solving. This role will partner with regional sales representatives to maintain and enhance all customer relationships, and with our internal sales, project coordination, and logistics departments to ensure customer service and transparency. This role requires quarterly travel to our sales territories. The role will work closely in support of the President in setting the tone for and modeling the company culture through behavior and action. This role is salaried/exempt.Job Responsibilities:Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their needs and expectations are met with online meetings and travel to markets as needed.Coordinate and supervise multiple teams, each focused on specific product groups, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.Review and interpret drawings, specifications, and construction documents to ensure accuracy and feasibility when technical assistance is needed.Provide technical support and guidance for sales staff to interpret customer requests and inquiries.Monitor all sales bid activity work with customers and sales agents to actively pursue each opportunity.Assess best tactics for closing contracts (securing the order) with individual customers or sales agents:Engage necessary team membersAssess vendors for capacity, capability, and pricingAssess logistics methods to optimize product deliveryEvaluation importance of customer financing as part of the contract closure and sales margin considerations with support/approval of executive leadershipWhen a sales opportunity becomes an order, monitor the team's project progress and make necessary adjustments to meet deadlines and budget constraints as needed.Conduct regular team meetings to review project progress, address issues, and share important informationProvide customer support as necessary to manage errors and claimsMake appropriate discretionary decisions regarding financial commitments and obligations to close issues and resolve problemsWork with senior leadership, sales staff, and sales agents to establish annual sales budget and update sales team on monthly results.Lead, mentor, and motivate a diverse team of professionals, fostering a positive and productive work environment.Actively assess sales staff performance to ensure the customer's needs are met and are aligned with our mission statement.Provide training and development opportunities to team members to enhance their skills and performance.Education/Background/Experience/CertificationsThe right candidate will have 8-10 plus years of experience in international sales, construction management, engineering or a related field and in-depth understanding of construction material sales. Equivalent experience in a construction related field such as project management or site superintendent will be considered. Strong technical Knowledge of construction processes, methods, and materials. Familiarity with construction contract documents, including plans and specifications. Excellent leadership and team management skills.Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and team members. Strong sales and business development abilities. Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple projects simultaneously. Demonstratable skills with MS Office products. Demonstratable ability to understand and interact with online ERP systems.
