Senior Counsel, Sports & Entertainment Marketing at Under Armour Baltimore, MD
Purpose of RoleSenior Counsel, Sports & Entertainment Marketing is a strategic leadership role responsible for driving the development, negotiation, and management of sports marketing initiatives, partnerships, and business affairs. This position works closely with internal stakeholders, including Legal, Finance, and executive teams, to build and enhance relationships with athletes, influencers, teams, leagues, national governing bodies, and other key sports or entertainment industry properties.Your ImpactDeal Making & negotiations: Lead and support negotiations for high-value sponsorships, partnerships and media rights deals; develop and execute strategies to maximize value from new and existing partnerships.Contract management and legal drafting: Draft high-value sponsorships and sports marketing partnership agreements; oversee drafting, review and negotiation of other related contracts; ensure contracts align with business goals while mitigating risks; monitor contract performance.New business relationships & models: Identify and cultivate new business relationships and explore innovative partnership models and opportunities.Properties & partnerships support: Support broader sports marketing teammates in managing the sports property portfolio; collaborate with cross-functional teams to maximize exposure and activation.Trends, insights & forecasting: Monitor sports industry trends, emerging technologies and consumer behaviors; provide insights and forecasting to drive decision-making.Portfolio recapping & reporting: Develop and manage comprehensive portfolio recaps; report performance and effectiveness of partnerships and sponsorships; present findings to senior leadership.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Sports Management or related field with typically 15 years of relevant experience; Master's degree with typically 13 years of experience; or 10 years of experience without a degree.Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree, with 10+ years of experience or specialization in sports, entertainment law and corporate/business law.8+ years of management experience or equivalent subject-matter experience.Proven track record in negotiating complex deals and managing high-level partnerships.Strong understanding of legal frameworks, contract negotiations and financial aspects of business partnerships.Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and lead cross-functional teams.Passion for sports and for staying ahead of industry trends and innovations.Workplace Location & ScheduleLocation: Must reside within commuting distance from Baltimore, MD office.Work schedule: Hybrid; requires 4 days in-office per week.Sponsorship eligibility: UA does not offer sponsorship of job applicants for employment-based work authorization.Relocation: Relocation support considered.Base compensation: $227,853.60–$284,817.00 USD (initial placement based on knowledge, skills and experience).Benefits & PerksPaid UA Give Back Volunteer DaysUnder Armour merchandise discountsCompetitive 401(k) plan matchingMaternity and parental leave; FMLA-eligible benefitsHealth and fitness benefits, discounts and resourcesOur Commitment to Equal OpportunityUnder Armour is an equal-employment-opportunity employer and is committed to providing a workplace of mutual respect.
