Director of Engineering Programs
I’m working on a Director-level role leading global engineering programs in a medical device manufacturing environment — and it’s a bit different from most “program management” roles you’ll see. This isn’t just about timelines and reporting.This role sits at the intersection of:Injection molding & automated assemblyNPI, validation, and product launchCustomer-facing program leadership in a CDMO environmentWhat You’ll Actually Be DoingLead and scale a global stage-gate / design control process across multiple sitesDrive NPI programs from concept through validation and productionPartner with Sales, Business Development, and key customers on program strategy and quotingProvide visibility across a portfolio of complex engineering programsAlign engineering, quality, and operations to deliver predictable executionInfluence technical roadmap, investment decisions, and operational improvementsWhat This Role Requires (Read This Carefully)This role is not for a pure PMO leader.You should have:Deep experience in medical device manufacturing (ISO 13485)Exposure to injection molding and/or high-volume assemblyExperience leading NPI programs involving validation (IQ/OQ/PQ)A track record of working directly with customers on complex programsStrong understanding of tooling, process development, and manufacturing scale-upExperience in contract manufacturing (CDMO) environments is highly preferredYou’ve likely:Come up through Manufacturing Engineering, NPI, or Program ManagementLed programs where tooling, validation, and production all intersectedHad real accountability for delivery, cost, and customer outcomesWhy This Role Stands OutHigh visibility across a global organizationDirect impact on customer success and program executionOpportunity to shape how engineering programs are run across sitesStrong alignment between technical execution and business strategyAdditional DetailsTravel: ~25–50%Location: On-Site in either the Boston or Los Angeles area.
