Environmental Director

Environmental Director Taconic, a global leader in the manufacturing of PTFE coated fiberglass fabric, belts and tapes has an opening in our corporate office in Petersburgh, NY for an Environmental Directorto provide overall leadership and management of the Environmental function with primary technical focus on site remediation, groundwater protection, and regulatory engagement. Coordinates and performs duties necessary to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental laws related to remediation activities, air emissions, water discharges, and hazardous materials management. Serves as the company's senior interface with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC), leading PFAS-related groundwater remediation efforts while maintaining a constructive, long-term regulatory relationship. Leads a small environmental team and directs external consultants supporting remediation and compliance activities.Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, Environmental Science, or related discipline. Minimum of 8–10 years of progressive environmental experience, with significant experience in site remediation and regulatory agency interaction. Demonstrated experience managing groundwater remediation projects and working directly with NYSDEC or similar regulatory agencies. Strong technical writing, communication, and negotiation skills. Proven ability to manage consultants, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams. Knowledge of industrial manufacturing processes and the ability to integrate environmental requirements into operations. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work in a dynamic regulatory and operational environment.
