Buyer
**Primary Objective:
**
As a Buyer your responsibilities are to ensure the procurement of materials based on the organization’s needs. The buyer is the main point of contact between suppliers and operations; create and maintain the open PO backlog providing visibility to the organization.
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities
**
Analyze material needs, projections and supply risks to make buy decisions
Issue Purchase orders to vendors
Follow up on open PO’s according to need dates, supplier promise date(s) and expedite needs to ensure on-time delivery of product(s)
Mitigate material shortages
Negotiate with suppliers to obtain optimal pricing, delivery dates and purchase order terms
Conduct supplier performance metrics (with feedback from internal customers) for communication to internal department management and suppliers
Participate in continuous improvement activities for organization
Other duties as assigned
**Qualifications
**
Procurement / Planning / Kanban and MRP/ERP Knowledge
Above average English communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to work under minimal supervision and sense of ownership
Computer literate and able to utilize current software, including Excel, Word, Microsoft Office programs and PowerBI
Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with teams and vendors
Advanced skills in data mining and ability to interpret data to determine purchasing needs and perform inventory management task or decisions
**Physical Demands
**
Able to lift 40 pounds repetitively.
Able to stand on concrete for extended periods of time.
**Work Environment
**
Be able to work in a production environment.
Able to walk, stand and otherwise perform job functions on concrete floors with safety boots/shoes.
Works in manufacturing environment occasionally being exposed to dust, odors, fumes and noise.
