As a Medication Technician, you will be primarily responsible for the administration or assisting in the administration of medication and treatments in accordance with a resident's health care provider's orders. You will also be responsible for assisting residents with activities of daily living (ADL's), providing general supervision, and respecting residents' rights and needs of choice.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Provides medication assistance for residents in accordance with state regulations and company policy including; pouring, preparing, assisting with administration, and documentationAccepts responsibility for accurate medication counts and for security of the medication cart and medication storage room for assigned shiftsAssists in maintaining the medication cart and storage room in a neat and orderly mannerMay be called upon to assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating, transferring, and mobility, as neededResponds to all residents needs and/or requests for care promptly, and provides or obtains assistance with care as necessaryUpholds Residents' rights at all timesSupports and upholds all company policies and care philosophyObserves residents for change in physical, emotional, mental, or behavioral condition, unusual symptoms, medication side effects, accidents, injuries, or unusual occurrences, and reports promptly to a licensed nurseCompletes all documentation such as medication administration records, incident reports, change of condition reports, and behavior tracking, as requested, in a timely mannerResolves concerns regarding resident care with all constituents in a timely mannerEnsures proper and timely records reporting in your department in accordance with state and federal guidelines and company standardsCompletes all mandatory compliance, HIPPA and state and federal regulatory training as requiredAttends all required staff meetings and in-service training sessionsAssists with other duties as assignedWorking in a high-pressure environment, interacting with difficult customers/vendors, handling urgent matters, resolving conflicts, having effective interpersonal skillsOperating a company vehicle or personal vehicle (as required) to perform job duties. Candidates must be willing and able to drive for work-related purposes as needed. PERSONAL QUALITIES:Demonstrates a positive attitude and contributes to an atmosphere of team spirit and cooperation within the facilityPromotes customer service and positive community relations by treating residents, families, other staff, and all visitors in a courteous, helpful and friendly manner QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION:High School diploma or equivalent preferredMinimum of 1-year previous experience as a Caregiver for the elderly in a residential or long-term care setting Must be able to read, write and speak English to communicate effectively with residents, families, visitors, and other staff membersMust be able to perform the job duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodationMust complete the Medication Aide training (and certification in states where required) Beztak and All Seasons requires a Level 2 ACHA background check.
