Mechanic/Equipment Repair Technician II

Job Title The State of South Carolina is hiring for a position within the Criminal Justice Academy. Job Responsibilities The duties include: Assisting the supervisor in performing skilled tasks to maintain automotive equipment. Performing extensive automotive and diesel repairs and maintenance on all Academy vehicles. Working with instructional staff to schedule all driving programs using CJA vehicles. Assisting with maintaining inventories of vehicle parts, accessories, tools, and shop equipment. Performing shop maintenance and upkeep as required. Coordinating with Academy staff for bus transportation for students to and from the range. Performing other duties as required. Uniforms, tools, and equipment will be provided. Minimum and Additional Requirements Requirements include: High school diploma or GED. Completion of specialized coursework in automotive, diesel, or body repair. At least four (4) years of experience independently performing duties related to the maintenance and repair of automotive equipment. Must possess and maintain a valid South Carolina driver's license. Preferred Qualifications Preferred qualifications include: Knowledge of principles and practices used to diagnose vehicles using computerized test equipment. Skill in the use of testing and measuring instruments. Ability to interpret technical service manuals. Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds. Ability to push, pull, squat, kneel, sit, stand, walk, and drive. Ability to work under general supervision. Ability to attend evening training classes, as necessary.
