DutiesYou will perform all phases of masonry craft to maintain, install, repair, altar, or construct interior and exterior surfaces and structures built of a variety of types of brick, block, and stone.Construct and repair walls, sidewalks, manholes, ramps, floorings, and catch basins.Cut and shape brick, block, and stone in constructing and repairing window and door openings and corners.Perform a variety of complex hollow tile wall and stair installation to ensure courses (layers) are laid evenly, to include transition, and the completed work blends with existing structure.Construct windowsills, mantles, and arches capable of supporting the walls above the openings.RequirementsConditions of employmentAppointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.This position is designated as Drug Testing Required. I possess good skill, knowledge and experience in performing most phases and techniques of the masonry trade. I have good skill and experience in constructing, demolishing and repairing interior and exterior surfaces and structures such as curbs, sidewalks, walkways, stairs, walls, floors, retaining walls, built of a variety of types of materials including but not limited to brick, block, stone, tile, cement, etc. I can lay and align bricks, blocks, or tiles to build or repair structures; use trowel, floats, edger's, to level, spread, and shape mortar or concrete; I can distinguish between the various types of mortars. - - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.PHYSICAL EFFORT: Is frequently required to perform heavy lifting up to 90 pounds and carrying bricks, block, stone, mortar, cement, and sand. Continually required to stand while working and frequently climbs ladders and scaffolds.WORKING CONDITIONS: Is exposed to a variety of weather conditions while working outdoors.
