Position DetailsPosition InformationJob TitleASUP Compost DirectorDepartmentStudent ActivitiesTerms and Hours5-10 hours per weekJob CategoryStudent EmploymentHourly WageVolunteer Stipend ($1,500 per semester)Job SummaryOversee the ASUP Composting programing including training and scheduling compost riders, marketing the service and raising awareness about the value of composting, maintaining equipment, and meeting with ASUP and other stakeholders.Core DutiesEnsures the university's efforts in sustainabilityHires, orients, trains, and manages student Compost RidersCoordinates schedules for food waste collection, transport, and disposalAccurately assesses the volume of food waste collected through the programAcquires of equipment (bike, buckets, gloves, etc.) and manages storage space for equipment in order to support efficient operations of the programProvides periodic information and feedback to all stakeholders, including ASUP, Physical Plant, and Residence Life, Sustainability CoordinatorsHelps facilitate residence hall occupant engagement with the program, marketing the service as appropriateEmpties compost collection containers into appropriate receptaclesTransports compost from the dorms to the composting bins behind the commonsAnswers student and staff questions while on the job regarding the programCleans any messes and report maintenance issues to Physical PlantWeighs compost and measures volume in canMinimum QualificationsAbility to work alone with little or no supervisionAbility to lift a minimum of 25 poundsWillingness to learn about composting and environmental issues on campusPublic Safety Driver Safety certificate (Free and can be obtained once hired)Must be available to meet with members of the ASUP Executive Board and advisorPreferred QualificationsN/APhysical RequirementsPosting Detail InformationPosting NumberSE981-2023Number of Vacancies1Estimated Start Date09/04/2026Open Date03/09/2026Close Date
