Job Title: Director of MaintenanceLocation: MinnesotaIndustry: Aviation / Fixed Base Operations (FBO)Employment Type: Full-TimeOverviewWe are seeking an experienced Director of Maintenance to lead and oversee all day-to-day operations of our aircraft maintenance shop. This role is responsible for ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient maintenance operations across a diverse fleet of private aviation aircraft. The Director of Maintenance will serve as the primary A&P authority, signing off on all maintenance work and ensuring strict adherence to FAA regulations.This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong technical expertise, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to lead and mentor a maintenance team in a fast-paced FBO environment.Key ResponsibilitiesLead, manage, and oversee all daily operations of the aircraft maintenance departmentServe as the primary A&P-certified authority responsible for approving and signing off on all maintenance workEnsure full compliance with FAA regulations, inspections, documentation, and airworthiness standardsSupervise, mentor, and develop maintenance technicians and support staffPlan, schedule, and coordinate maintenance, inspections, repairs, and upgradesMaintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and documentation in accordance with FAA RequirementsOversee maintenance activities for a variety of aircraft types, including:Float planesSingle-engine aircraftLarger private aviation aircraftManage parts inventory, tooling, and vendor relationshipsCollaborate with FBO leadership on operational planning, safety initiatives, and performance improvementsDrive continuous improvement around safety, efficiency, quality of work, and team performanceLeadership & Operational ExpectationsLead with a strong safety-first mindsetDemonstrate excellent judgement, accountability, and decision-makingSet clear expectations and performance standards for the maintenance teamFoster a positive, professional, and collaborative shop cultureBe comfortable working hands-on while also maintaining a strategic leadership viewRequired QualificationsActive FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certification (required)Strong working knowledge of FAA Federal Aviation Administration regulations and compliance standardsProven experience overseeing aircraft maintenance operationsExperience working with a variety of aircraft, including float planes and private aviation aircraftStrong understanding of airframe and powerplant systemsDemonstrated leadership experience with the ability to manage and develop teamsExceptional attention to detail, documentation, and safety complianceAbility to work efficiently in a hands-on environment while managing broader operationsCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive annual salaryPerformance-based commission structure tied to clearly defined operational and performance metricsOpportunity to play a key leadership role within a growing aviation operationStable, long-term leadership position in a Northern Minnesota aviation environment
