Job Description Our organization, a leading integrated healthcare system in New Jersey, is on the lookout for a Medical Director of Quality – Heart & Vascular. This pivotal clinical role is designed to enhance quality, safety, and performance excellence throughout our network. The Medical Director will spearhead initiatives aimed at improving clinical outcomes, standardizing care pathways, and elevating the patient experience in cardiology, cardiac surgery, and vascular services. Collaborating closely with the Vice President for Quality in Heart & Vascular, this leader will utilize data and insights from registries to drive performance enhancements, oversee clinical event evaluations, ensure regulatory compliance, and engage physicians and multidisciplinary teams in nurturing a culture of accountability, collaboration, and ongoing improvement.Position OverviewThe Medical Director of Quality – Heart & Vascular is tasked with enhancing clinical quality, safety, outcomes, and patient experiences across our healthcare system. This leader will work alongside system and hospital executives, physicians, and multidisciplinary teams to implement evidence-based strategies that enhance care delivery and yield measurable results.This role is essential in aligning Heart & Vascular quality initiatives with system priorities, regulatory requirements, and best practices, while promoting a culture of transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement comprehensive Heart & Vascular quality and safety strategies across the system, concentrating on measurable enhancements in outcomes, efficiency, and reliability of care.Leverage data analytics and performance metrics from registries (ACC, STS, NCDR, VQI) to pinpoint opportunities, create dashboards, and deliver actionable insights to leadership.Collaborate with clinical and operational leaders to standardize protocols, supervise clinical event reviews, and ensure adherence to regulatory and accreditation standards.Engage with physicians, advanced practice providers, and multidisciplinary teams to foster a culture of high reliability, continuous improvement, and equitable patient care.QualificationsMD or DO with board certification in a Heart & Vascular specialty (such as Cardiology, Cardiac Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Electrophysiology, or a related field).Possession of an active New Jersey medical license or eligibility for licensure.A minimum of 5 years of clinical practice experience with a proven track record in quality, safety, or performance improvement leadership.Familiarity with Heart & Vascular registries (ACC/NCDR, STS, VQI) and initiatives driven by data improvement.Exceptional communication, facilitation, and change management abilities.Demonstrated effectiveness in navigating a complex, matrixed healthcare environment.Compensation Transparency:The expected salary range for this position is between $200,000 and $250,000 annually.The final compensation offered to the selected candidate will be influenced by various factors, including educational background, skills, and professional experience.
