Teacher Aides JobID: 5464 Position Type Teacher`s Aide Date Posted 3/10/2026 Location District Wide Closing Date 03/16/2026   Additional Information: Show/Hide Vacancy for the 2025-2026 School Year Teacher Aides Multiple Positions Location: To Be Determined Teacher Aide Special Education Support (Paraprofessional) Job Summary Under the direction of a certified teacher and/or building administrator, the paraprofessional aide supports the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral development of students with special needs. This position plays a vital role in helping to provide a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment. Primary Responsibilities Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with disabilities as outlined in the Individualized Education Program (IEP). Assist students with academic tasks, including reading, writing, math, and classroom assignments. Support students with behavioral and social-emotional needs using positive behavior support strategies. Supervise and support students during non-instructional activities such as lunch, recess, transitions, and transportation. Aid students in developing independence in personal care, daily living skills, and organization. Maintain a safe and orderly learning environment by following safety protocols and supporting classroom management plans. Collaborate and communicate effectively with teachers, therapists, case managers, and other school staff. Assist with documentation of student progress and behavior, as requested by the teacher or Child Study Team. Attend training and professional development sessions related to supporting students with special needs. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with district policies and federal/state regulations. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; some college or Associate's degree preferred. Experience working with children, especially those with special needs, is highly desirable. Ability to remain patient, flexible, and calm in a fast-paced school environment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Must meet NJDOE paraprofessional certification requirements (e.g., Praxis ParaPro test or 60 college credits required by district). Salary: Following the established BTEA salary guide, the minimum starting salary range of Aides Step 1 through Aides 90 CEU Step 1 is $31,805 - $32,255..
