26-27 Special Education School Psychologist @ Special EducationPrimary Purpose:To assist Alief ISD schools in the referral, coordination, and monitoring process for students referred to special education and/or to assist Alief ISD schools in the development of appropriate educational programs for students.Education/Certification:Licensed by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologist as a Licensed Specialist in School PsychologyMaster's degree or higher from a recognized, accredited college or universitySpecial Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:Knowledge of federal and state special education rules and regulations including special education disability categories and impact educationallyKnowledge of specially designed instruction & cross-battery evaluation practicesKnowledge of prevention and intervention strategies in learningKnowledgeable regarding Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approachesAbility to write measurable goals to target social emotional skillsUnderstand the individual needs of children with mental health concerns and has ability to communicate effectively with families who support these childrenAbility to coordinate, manage and collaborate with staff in accordance with dutiesEffective communication, human relations and leadership skillsStrong organizational, communication and interpersonal skillsProficient in use of digital tools including Google Suite, Microsoft 365 ARD/IEP Software and Learning Platform Management SystemsExperience:Successful completion of LSSP internshipMajor Responsibilities and Duties:Program ManagementConduct Full Individual Evaluation assessments for students referred to special education (initiate, coordinate, collaborate, monitor progress on and complete evaluations within appropriate timelines).Review all Existing Evaluation Data to make appropriate determinations for the need for additional assessment.Review assessment results received from other school districts/outside sources to assure that all requirements/Texas Education Agency criteria are met.Adhere to mandatory timelines and compliance for program management.Assist with and/or conduct parent conferences for the purpose of reviewing and interpreting assessment results in a timely and appropriate manner to ensure parent meaningful participation in the ARD process.Provide teacher/staff consultation related to assessment results and educational planning of students evaluated.Participate in Case Review Committees as prescribed.Administer and interpret intelligence and achievement measures and conduct full individual evaluations for educational purposes.Assist in the preparation of appropriate individual educational plans (IEPs) for students in special education.Attend and participate in professional development meetings.Update skills as needed and directed.Participate in ARD Committee meetings, prepare or facilitate REED Meetings, or other meetings which involve special education assessment related needs of children.Complete Functional Behavioral Assessment and Behavior Intervention Plans as part of psychosocial evaluations.Know psycho-social development.Keep up-to-date data collection (notes, summaries, observations, etc.) regarding services provided as required by TEA, TBEP, and required for Medicaid and SHARS billing submissions.Complete all needed timely documentation of SHARS billable services including personal care services within expected timelines.Other:Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief.Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed.Perform other duties as assigned.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesYou may be asked to provide mentorship and/or supervision to interns or practicum students.EvaluationPerformance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of Licensed Specialists in School Psychology Personnel.Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:Tools/Equipment Used : Standard office equipment including computer and peripheralsPosture: Standing, prolonged sitting, occasional kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing pulling, and twistingMotion: Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching; may also require climbing stairs and reaching over headLifting: Moderate lifting and carrying (up to 15 pounds); May require occasional heavy lifting and carrying (15-45 pounds)Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; frequent district wide travel; all campuses are temperature controlled with hard surface floorsMental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stressThis document describes the general purpose and responsibilities assigned to this job and is not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities and duties that may be assigned or skills that may be required.The full job description for this position is included within this job posting.
