General Description Machine Operators in a wood laminate shop include the following positions. Industrial panel saw operator, CNC operators, Edge banders, and laminating press. From start to finish we are a wood laminate shop, we work in wood material such as plywood, MDF, and particleboard. We also work in glass, metal, plastic, and solid surfaces. The operator is responsible for set up and operation in support of a high-volume shop. Responsibilities Set up machines (calibration, cleaning etc.) to start a production cycle Control and adjust machine settings (e.g. speed) Prepare and load raw materials onto the machines Understand specification of the task at hand and desired result by reading engineered drawings Translate instructions into computer commands so the machine can perform correct function Inspect with precision and measuring tools Prepare a test run to check if the machines produce outputs according to specifications Supervise the machines while they execute the task and make any necessary adjustments to produce a better result Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly Check and maintain machinery daily to ensure functionality Qualifications: Read & Write English Basic computer skills Proven experience as a machine operator Working knowledge of diverse high-speed machinery and measurement tools (caliper, micrometer etc.) Must have basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply and divide) Must have measurement skills (read a metric tape measure, use calipers) Understanding of production procedures Adherence to health and safety regulations (e.g. constant use of protective gear) Ability to read blueprints, schematics and manuals Analytical skills Attention to detail Ability to lift 50+ pounds consistently, as well as bend, stoop, kneel, carry, walk/stand for duration of shift 8+ hours per day, with no restriction or issue.
