Division Controller | Multi-Site Sales & Service Organization | Cleveland, OH (Hybrid)We are currently engaged on a Division Controller search with a high-growth, multi-site sales and service business headquartered in the Midwest. This is a senior leadership seat with real scope, real visibility, and a meaningful role in the company's continued growth trajectory.Reporting to the company's senior accounting executive, the Division Controller serves as the primary financial leader for a major division of the business. This role is more than a technical accounting position. It is a business partner, steward, and accountable leader for the division's financial performance, operating across a distributed branch and regional footprint at both strategic and executional levels.Accounting & Financial ReportingEnsure consistent application of GAAP and enterprise accounting policies across the divisionLead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of financial statementsReview and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting outputsIdentify and investigate variances, unusual trends, and risks, providing clear insights and recommendationsPartner closely with FP&A to align actual results with forecasts, plans, and operational driversAccounting Operations & Control EnvironmentMaintain a strong internal control environment aligned with company standards and audit expectationsOversee general ledger integrity, account reconciliations, and financial data accuracyEnsure proper segregation of duties, system access controls, and policy adherence within ERP systemsPartner with shared services (AR/AP) to ensure efficient, accurate transactional processing and issue resolutionSupport audit readiness and execution in coordination with corporate accounting and external auditorsDivision Partnership & Operational LeadershipServe as a trusted financial partner to the Division President and operational leadersDrive financial transparency, cost discipline, and accountability across branches, regions, and functionsTranslate financial results into clear, actionable insights that improve performance and decision-makingSupport pricing, labor efficiency, and cost management initiatives across the divisionAct as a connector across finance, operations, HR, and corporate teamsPayroll, Labor & Benefits Financial OversightOversee payroll accounting and labor reporting, ensuring accuracy and proper financial treatmentCoordinate closely with Payroll and HRIS functions, maintaining alignment on data, timing, and controlsReview payroll-related journal entries, allocations, and cost center accuracyEnsure appropriate labor accruals, bonus accruals, and workforce cost reportingProvide financial oversight of divisional benefits costs, partnering with HR on accuracy and proper allocationTreasury & Working CapitalPartner with corporate treasury on cash management and banking activitiesReview and approve disbursements, ACH, and wire transactions in accordance with control policiesMonitor and improve working capital metrics including AR aging, collections, and AP coordinationEnsure accuracy of bank reconciliations across payroll and operating accountsAccounts Receivable & Risk ManagementOversee divisional AR reporting including aging, collections trends, and reserve adequacyIdentify and escalate risks related to credit, collections, and revenue recognitionPartner with operations and shared services to improve cash conversion and reduce exposureClose & Accrual ManagementOwn key close processes including payroll and labor accruals, bonus and incentive accruals, prepaids and amortization, and fleet/lease accountingEnsure completeness and accuracy of all period-end financial activityContinuous Improvement & SystemsIdentify and implement practical improvements that enhance efficiency, reduce cost, and strengthen financial processesPartner with senior leadership, FP&A, and IT to improve systems, workflows, and reporting capabilitiesChampion automation, standardization, and simplification across divisional financial operationsIdeal Profile10+ years of progressive accounting and financial leadership experienceBackground in multi-location, high-growth environments across services, distribution, or light manufacturingExperience operating within a centralized controllership or CAO structure with divisional accountabilityStrong knowledge of US GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controlsPayroll, labor, and working capital management experienceExposure to audit processes and compliance environmentsProven ability to build cross-functional relationships and influence both financial and non-financial leadersERP proficiency requiredBachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA strongly preferredLocation: Cleveland, OH | Hybrid
