Drainage Engineer in Training (E.I.)

Are we the road to your future?We are currently searching for an entry level Drainage Engineer in Training (E.I.) to support our Southeast Region located in any of our Florida Volkert office locations.To be considered for this position, applicants must have, at minimum, a Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering.What You’ll Be DoingAssists with various assignments for the Department of Transportation and local municipalitiesPerforms engineering deliverables associated with Drainage and roadway infrastructure improvementsAssists and prepares project plans using the latest CADD software including but not limited to MicroStation, OpenRoads, Civil3D, and/or AutoCADD, among othersContributes to the preparation and/or modification of engineering reports and calculations for a wide variety of projectsWorks with senior staff to develop plans and calculations for transportation and drainage related projectsPerforms the design of stormwater management facilities to meet water quality and quantity requirementsPrepares and assists in the preparation of project construction quantities, details, cost estimates and the preparation of project specificationsReviews project quantity estimates, details, and check calculations and drawings for compliance to project requirementsPrepare and assist in the preparation of project schedulesCollaborating across multiple disciplines, piers, and other professionals to successfully deliver quality projects within budget and schedulePerforms other duties as assignedWhat You Need To HaveBachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering EIT (E.I) Certification is desired (or the commitment to acquire it within 1-year)A minimum of 0 - 4 years of engineering experienceExperience with (or strong willingness to learn) MicroStation, Geopak, Civil3D, StormCAD, ORD, ICPR, HEC-RAS, GIS and/or SUDA software (among other software) Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines. Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR) Bonus Points If You HavePrevious FDOT/Municipal experience is a plus Prior knowledge of FDOT standards is plus Why Volkert?
