SOWIC Speech Language Pathologist- 2 Positions

Speech Language PathologistSouthern Will County Cooperative for Special Education (SOWIC) is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist. This position reports to the Executive and/or Assistant Director of Special Education and Program Administrator. The role involves utilizing leadership, advocacy, and collaboration to provide prevention, assessment, and remediation services for students with language, speech, voice, and fluency difficulties. The goal is to help children meet their educational goals.Responsibilities include:Planning and preparation: Organize a program addressing local school speech-language goals, work with school personnel to establish and accomplish goals, coordinate speech-language services with other student services, maintain records and reports, develop appropriate IEPs, and implement evidence-based practices.Classroom environment: Establish and maintain orderly classroom behavior, arrange therapy environment, manage facilities and equipment, and take precautions to protect students and materials.Instruction: Assess students' communication skills, conduct screenings and observations, provide speech and language therapy, implement appropriate service delivery models, and modify therapeutic instructional approaches.Professional responsibilities: Provide consultation to parents, teachers, and other school personnel, seek assistance to meet students' communication needs, consult with non-school agencies, manage time efficiently, meet professional standards, engage in continuing education, observe SOWIC policies, demonstrate punctuality and attendance, perform physical tasks, and utilize necessary technology tools.Evaluation: Conduct formal and informal observations and conferences as needed.
