Backend Security Engineer

Help improve next-generation AI systems by designing realistic backend engineering challenges and building reliable ways to evaluate solutions. This remote contract role draws on your security and backend expertise to create coding tasks involving feature development, bug fixes, and secure, high-performance systems. Key Responsibilities Create realistic, engaging backend coding tasks for AI systems, including feature implementation and bug fixes. Build deterministic verifiers that accept valid solutions and reject invalid ones. Apply practical expertise in scalable services, APIs, debugging, refactoring, performance optimization, automated testing, code review, and security assessment. Provide high-quality real-world input that helps AI systems learn, reason, and perform. Qualifications Strong backend development experience with Java, Node.js, Go, Rust, TypeScript, Python, C++, or similar languages. Demonstrated experience delivering high-quality, performant backend projects and scalable services or APIs. Experience identifying and resolving software bugs and system bottlenecks, refactoring codebases, and implementing complex features in large-scale applications. Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, and foundational computer science concepts. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills. Cybersecurity or SecOps experience is highly valued, including secure coding, application security, penetration testing, vulnerability assessment, OWASP/CWE, security audits, or security-focused code reviews. Work Terms Remote independent-contractor engagement, approximately 15 hours per week. Flexible schedule, choose your working hours and days, including weekends if preferred. No prior AI experience is required, relevant domain expertise is the focus. Interview, assessment, and project work must be completed without outside assistance, as the work relies on your own judgment. Compensation Advertised pay range: $30 to $100 per hour. Compensation is output-based and paid per task that meets project specifications. Completion time may vary based on experience and workflow. Minimum submission requirements apply, including a minimum number of tasks submitted each week. Availability and Application Process Roles are typically filled within 48 hours, and candidates should be ready to begin promptly.
