Applicants for the position of Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC/R) service technician have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of refrigeration systems, as well as gas and electric HVAC equipment. This position will require a full and complete understanding of the expansion and flow of gases, control systems employed in HVAC Systems, and Industry Standard procedures. Daily job activities will require applicant to be proficient in the use of measuring instruments to aid in the diagnosis of malfunctioning equipment, as well as mastery over basic tools required to perform daily duties. Applicants will be able to demonstrate exemplary customer service skills and the ability to communicate with customers, as needed, to accomplish repairs. Job Duties: · Observe and test system operation, using gauges and instruments. Inspect systems to determine if they are operating properly. · Keep records of repairs and replacements made and causes of malfunctions. Maintain repair or maintenance records. · Estimate and install materials and supplies needed to maintain equipment in good working condition. Travel to work sites to perform installation, repair or maintenance work. · Mount compressor, condenser, and other components in specified locations on frames, using manual and powered hand tools and acetylene welding equipment. Install heating, ventilation, air conditioning, or refrigeration (HVAC/R) equipment. · Lay out reference points according to specifications for installation of structural and functional components, using measuring instruments. · Drill holes and install mounting brackets and hangers into floor and walls of building. Install hardware or other interior fixtures. Drill holes in parts, equipment, or materials. · Braze or solder metal parts or components to repair defective joints and leaks. · Dismantle malfunctioning systems and test components, using electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic testing equipment. Test mechanical systems to ensure proper functioning. Disassemble equipment to inspect for deficiencies. · Install wiring to connect components to an electric power source. Connect electrical components or equipment. · Inspect assemblies and installation for conformance to specifications and quality standards. · Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness. Contribute to continuous improvement and promote quality. Monitor own work to ensure quality. · Meet productivity standards and complete work in a timely manner. Strive to increase productivity, by working quickly and safety. · Observe safety and security procedures. Report potentially unsafe conditions. Use equipment and materials properly. · Adapt to frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events occurring in the work environment. · Consistently arrive to work and worksites on-time. Work with others to layout projects. Follow instructions and respond to direction from management. Take responsibility for own actions; commit to long hours of work when necessary to reach goals; complete tasks on time or notify appropriate person with an alternate plan. · Generate suggestions for improving work and develop innovative approaches and ideas. · Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, or product specifications to determine sequence and methods of installing equipment or components. · Complete any other job duties as assigned.
