Position Description:As a Theme Development Engineer, you will work with many team members to make the design vision a reality.From developing initial engineering concepts for a new design concept, guiding, and integrating multiple engineering and manufacturing inputs into the A surface, providing alternatives proposals that enable new ways of reconciling functional requirements and thematic intent, to building a suitable physical model that makes the concept and reality.Skills Required:CATIA, CAD, CAD DesignCATIA - independently able to create complex 3D proposals - recognized as near expert in CATIACAD - independently able to create complex 3D proposals - recognized as near expert in CATIACAD Design - independently able to create complex 3D proposals - recognized as near expert in CATIASkills Preferred:Design Release Engineer, Structural EngineeringDesign Release Engineer - Basic understanding and experience in the areaStructural Engineering - Basic understanding and experience in the areaExperience Required:Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Automotive Equivalent3+ years of proven experience in complete vehicle layout/package, including Body and TrimPreferred Requirements:Strong familiarity with legislative requirements affecting the Design Feasibility process. Demonstrated experience in leading and presenting to decision making forums.Demonstrated understanding of feasibility tools and design studio feasibility progression.Strong understanding of the production processes.Education Required:Bachelor's DegreeEducation Preferred:Master's DegreeAdditional Information:Position is Hybrid (4 days/week - Monday to Thursday in office)As a Theme Development Engineer, you will:Lead Studio property set up, and integrity including content, data pedigree, ride height, manikin drop and overall suitabilityLead completion of studies within Design Feasibility FC Process from FC0 to K6, including completion of the Design Development Checklists, Hardpoints Plan, and the integration of aligned plans into surfaceLead the integration of A-surface with thematic, VA, functional, and attribute inputs whilst maintaining the emotive character and art in the surfaceGuide initial theme set-up, and development through or in advance of functional, supplier, or attribute inputsDevelop and maintain Surface Scaffold files to enable Physical and Digital model development and theme overlayProvide concept alternatives and provocations to support the reconciliation of thematic intent with functional and program assumptionsLead the optimization and balancing of inputs to the studio, including consideration of 'what-might-be' to support the theme visionManage data within, into, and out of the studioWe offer attractive, competitive compensation and benefits including, medical, dental, 401k, short-term disability, AD&D, tuition reimbursement, and more.
