You&#39;ll work with students who have learning differences, using evidence-based reading intervention strategies to help them succeed.Note: If you are not trained in Orton-Gillingham (OG) or Wilson reading programs, we will provide training!Key ResponsibilitiesPlan, organize, and deliver differentiated academic instruction tailored to address individual student learning needsDevelop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of each student&#39;s learning challenges, formulating goals and objectives to facilitate measurable progressMonitor student progress through formal and informal assessments, portfolio development, and grade trackingSupport and administer weekly progress monitoring of reading-related goals and benchmarking assessments throughout the yearConduct three formal parent-teacher conferences annually with written summaries and maintain ongoing communication via phone and emailPrepare and update written annual IEP goals and progress summariesPresent progress and proposed goals at IEP meetings with district representatives, parents/guardians, and other attendeesServe as backup test administrator for the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP)Attend all school staff meetings, academic department meetings, and IEP meetingsMaintain special education credential through required continuing education or pursuit of advanced degreeEnsure compliance with school policies, California Educational Code, the CHC Employee Handbook, and Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting LawProtect the confidentiality of students and familiesPerform other related duties as assignedRequired QualificationsValid California Special Education credential or ability to apply for an intern credentialRecent classroom experience, preferably working with students with emotional/behavioral and/or learning challengesUnderstanding of the etiologies of students with anxiety, ADHD, mood dysregulation, and specific learning challengesStrong interpersonal and classroom management skillsExperience preparing and presenting Individual Educational Plans (IEPs)Demonstrated ability to identify accommodations and interventions that facilitate optimal learning experiencesPractical knowledge of Common Core Curriculum, Universal Design for Learning, and differentiation strategiesAbility to establish and maintain data-driven progress monitoring systems and interpret data to inform instructionAbility to develop, prepare, deliver, and monitor IEPs based on identified skill and behavioral deficits and Common Core standardsAbility to work effectively on an interdisciplinary team and provide guidance to teaching assistants and internsComfort with basic technology systems (G-Suite, Outlook, etc.) and incorporating technology into instructional planningAbility to communicate clearly in oral and written formAbility to stand and sit for extended periods during instruction and supervisionWillingness to work certain evenings for scheduled school events and IEP meetingsPreferred QualificationsMaster&#39;s degree in Education (M.Ed.) or advanced workshop-level training in teaching students with learning disabilitiesTraining or certification in Orton-Gillingham (OG) or Wilson reading programsValid California driver&#39;s licenseSpecial RequirementsAbility to undergo training and implementation of Pro-ACT crisis management systemCommitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to all legal and ethical requirementsEqual Opportunity EmployerChildren&#39;s Health Council is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer.
