Child Care Worker- St Monica Catholic School

Job Title Employment Status: Part-timeFLSA: Non-exempt/HourlyReports to: DirectorJob Summary:Essential Job Responsibilities:Supervise children at all times, maintaining a secure, safe environment for children to play and learn in.Supervise and train assistants in your room on policies, procedures, and regulations.Create and implement lesson plans.Complete necessary classroom reports.Prepare daily reports for each child in your classroom.Attend staff meetings outside of work hours.Provide positive feedback to parents.Communicates effectively with students, parents, and other professionalsAdhere to proceedings and regulations with the DFPS.Change diapers/ toilet train children where necessary.Always comply with the presentation requirements set by the school.Attend ongoing training to keep education and regulations up to date.Participates in dismissal procedures at the end of after care, ensuring that each child leaves with the appropriate adult (i.e., an authorized adult)Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the schoolActs as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic ChurchSupports and adheres to the policies and procedures of the school and Archdiocese of San Antonio, including the Religious Standards for Catholic School EmployeesMaintains confidentiality regarding school mattersDemonstrates professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habitsMaintaining a stimulating and varied schedule of activities appropriate for the students in a well-ordered environmentPositive interaction with parentsAttend Archdiocesan, on campus and other in-services as requiredPerform such other duties as may be assigned by the DirectorHave copy of medical and emergency records and first aid kit on hand dailyEnsure that during the hours of operation there is at least one staff member trained in CPR/First AidImportant Job Functions:Maintains current and accurate records according to school policyCollaborates with peers to enhance the work environment and support instructional planningAbility to work well with students, parents, and colleagues in an instructional settingAbility to follow directions and handle multiple tasksPossesses proficient technology skillsKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Able to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formAble to work well with others in a school communitySkill in handling multiple tasks simultaneouslySkill in job appropriate technologySkill in critical thinking and planningSkill in motivating and engaging students in the learning processSkill in organizing and relating information in an understandable formatWorking Conditions:Required to work some nights and weekendsRequired to manage high to moderate levels of stressRequired to work in standard school conditionsMental/Physical Demands:Required to lift or carry supplies, textbooks, furniture, and equipmentRequired to maintain composure and avoid inappropriate displays of angerRequired to sit, stand, bend, stoop, reach, grab, pull, hear, see, and speak on a daily basisRequired to perform repetitive physical tasks such as computer keyboarding, writing, and readingRequired to monitor students in a variety of locations including those with noise, activity, and inclementBe an educatorBe able to adapt to continuously changing, fast-paced environment and make the children's needs the primary focus.Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Director.Requirements:Position Requirements:Education:High school diploma or equivalentCDA credential preferredExperience:At least 18 years oldOne (1) year of experience in a childcare settingOther Requirements:Meet state's education criteriaExcellent communication skillsBe a team playerHave reliable transportationCPR and First Aid certification (can be obtained during job training)Must pass archdiocesan Safe Environment Requirements and background screeningThis is not necessarily an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, skills, duties, or working conditions associated with the job.
