Senior Associate or Counsel – Labor & Employment (Chicago, IL – hybrid)
A top firm is seeking a Senior Associate or Counsel with 6+ years of experience to join its Labor + Employment Practice Group in the Chicago office.
Key Qualifications
Significant traditional labor experience, including substantial hands‑on involvement with union relations and collective bargaining.
NLRB proceedings and unfair labor practice charges.
Labor arbitrations and grievance handling.
Day‑to‑day counseling on traditional labor matters.
Candidates must be able to independently manage a wide range of labor matters from day one.
In addition, candidates should have meaningful experience across the full spectrum of employment law counseling, transactions, and litigation, including:
Hiring, discipline, and separation issues.
Wage and hour compliance and litigation.
EEO and discrimination matters.
Non‑compete, restrictive covenant, and trade secret issues.
Drafting and reviewing employment agreements, policies, and handbooks.
Due diligence in corporate transactions.
Employee accommodations and leave (ADA, FMLA, state/local laws).
Workplace investigations.
Employment litigation, including single‑plaintiff and class/collective actions.
Skills & Credentials
6-10+ years of experience.
Strong academic background.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and compliance.
Admission to the Illinois State Bar in good standing (required).
Compensation
Salary range: $310,000 – $370,000, commensurate with experience.
