Details 885-bed Level 1 Trauma academic medical center with Chest Pain and Stroke Center designations 24-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit (9 Ardmore East) serving general medicine patients with diagnoses including diabetes, GI, respiratory, renal, and wound care Common procedures include chest tube and trach management, PIV starts, drains and tubes, and PCA pumps Drip management includes Amiodarone, Fentanyl PCA, Ketamine PCA, Dilaudid PCA, and Heparin Lab draws required as part of nursing responsibilities RN-to-patient ratio of 5–6:1; CNA ratio of 8:1 Centralized telemetry monitoring with dedicated telemetry tech support EMR: Epic (experience required); IV pump: Alaris; medication dispensing: Omnicell 12-hour night shifts, 36 hours per week; shift times are 1830–0630 Every other weekend rotation required Floating required to other Med/Surg units No on-call responsibilities Requirements Active NC or compact RN license required Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Telemetry (MST) experience required, with most recent experience within the last year Proficiency in telemetry strip interpretation required Experience with chest tubes, trachs, PIV starts, drains and tubes, and PCA pumps required Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a high-stress environment Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required for consideration Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible Additional Information Provide direct and indirect patient care to general medicine patients on a Med/Surg Telemetry unit Department support includes CNAs, a Receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, phlebotomy, Rapid Response Team, RT (24/7), Hospitalist (24/7), and Intensivist (24/7) Orientation includes facility NEO and 2 days of departmental orientation Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays RTO requests require manager approval Royal blue scrubs required Free employee parking available Unit culture is described as patient-centered, highly reliable, and team-oriented First-time travelers may be considered for candidates with a strong Med/Surg Telemetry background Candidates who have worked a permanent position at an AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible A clinical interview is required as part of the hiring process American Traveler Job ID P-686991.
