At MAKS, we thrive on a People First, Customer focused Culture that works hard, plays hard and is Family Focused.SUMMARY: The Purchasing Agent plays a critical role in the manufacturing organization by managing the procurement of raw materials, equipment, and services essential to production operations. This position is responsible for sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring cost-effective and timely procurement of high-quality materials.ResponsibilitiesSupplier ManagementResearch and identify potential suppliers for raw materials, components, and manufacturing equipmentConduct comprehensive supplier evaluations and due diligenceMaintain and develop a robust network of reliable vendorsRegularly assess supplier performance and compliance with quality standardsProcurement ActivitiesAnalyze purchasing needs based on production schedules and inventory levelsPrepare and submit purchase ordersNegotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with suppliersCompare quotes and select vendors based on price, quality, delivery time, and reliabilityTrack and manage procurement budgetsCost ManagementDevelop strategies to reduce procurement costsConduct price and market analysesIdentify opportunities for volume discounts and bulk purchasingMaintain detailed records of purchasing transactions and expensesGenerate cost-saving reports for managementQuality ControlEnsure purchased materials meet company specifications and quality standardsCollaborate with quality assurance teams to establish procurement criteriaImplement vendor quality assessment processesAddress and resolve any material quality issues with suppliersInventory ManagementMonitor inventory levels and coordinate with production planningImplement just-in-time (JIT) procurement strategiesMinimize excess inventory and reduce carrying costsDevelop contingency plans for potential supply chain disruptionsDocumentation and ReportingMaintain accurate procurement recordsPrepare periodic procurement reportsTrack and document supplier performance metricsEnsure compliance with company purchasing policies and proceduresQualificationsHigh School DiplomaStrong analytical and negotiation skillsProficiency in ExcelStrong Organizational SkillsUnderstanding of manufacturing processes and supply chain managementPreferred QualificationsBachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field3-5 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environmentCertified Purchasing Professional (CPP) certificationExperience with ERP systemsKnowledge of lean manufacturing principlesBilingual capabilitiesWorking ConditionsAble to work in a hot humid environment for extended periods of time as well as around loud noises are required.Physical RequirementsMust be able to remain stationary with intermediate walking through out shift. Frequently lift parts weighing up to 50 pounds alone and parts more than 50 pounds with assistance, and must be able to transport these up to 20 feet. Frequently positions self to maneuver around the part when finishing. Must be able to operate the hand and air tools frequently.
