Meat WrapperThe Meat Wrapper learns the skills of handling fresh meat and other meat products, safe, sanitary and efficient operation of the meat department, ordering and inventory, equipment operations, and merchandising according to standards set by the company. They merchandise and present fresh meat to maximize sales. The Meat Wrapper demonstrates excellent teamwork, interpersonal skills, and commitment to the success of the team.Responsibilities include:Learning to package authorized beef, pork and poultry items according to company policies and proceduresWrapping, weighing and pricing cuts of meatLabeling packages according to COOL, USDA and company standardsEnsuring displays and case signs are updated appropriately, and that meat is merchandised and presented to maximize salesAssisting with product orderingMaintaining proper date rotation for dated and undated products per company policy, both in the display case and in the storage coolerPreparing and placing meat cuts and products in display counter according to company policy & procedures so they will appear attractive and appealing to the customersReceiving, inspecting, and storing meat upon delivery, to maintain cold chain and ensure meat qualityCompleting cleaning and sanitation of meat cases and meat rooms, ensuring excellent sanitation and quality standards are achieved and maintainedFollowing and executing all company policies and procedures which includes but is not limited to: COOL, Food Safety, Sanitation, Meat/Produce Scale operation, Mark Downs, Inventory Processes, Meat POG's, Meat Cutter Resource Manual, Daily Manager Signoff and Meat Cutting ListProtecting company property, funds, and merchandiseResponsibilities may include other perishable and non-perishable related duties necessary to maintain optimal store performanceAbout You:Must be 18 years of ageHigh School diploma or equivalent requiredExperience in grocery perishable department or meat wrapping preferredExperience safely using manual pallet jacks, hand tools and power equipment, including but not limited to, knives, wrappers, scales, slicers, cubing machine, and power saw (where certified to cut meat) preferredCompany work history will be strongly considered, including attendance, work performance, safety, policy compliance, and performance managementProficiency in basic math skills required, including addition, subtraction, multiplication and divisionMust be able to read, write and speak in EnglishDemonstrate effective oral and written communicationLanguage proficiency in Spanish or other languages are a plus in certain locationsMust be dependable and flexible, including a willingness to work in other areas of the store as needed with little or no advance noticeSome travel may be requiredExcellent customer service, teamwork, and problem-solving skillsMust adhere to a uniform dress codeOur Values:Ability to demonstrate, understand and apply our workplace values.Simplicity the drive to identify root cause and innovate to remove complexity to deliver the best outcomeHeart the passion that drives you to get up every day and work hard to strive for excellencePerformance Excellence clearly defining high expectations, driving ownership of key roles and responsibilities, executing with integrity and emphasis while creating a culture of accountabilityRespect taking pride in being inclusive and treating everyone who comes through the doors with respectBenefits:Eligible for Team Members who are full-time or who average 30 or more hours per week are eligible for health and welfare benefitsPaid Time OffMedical InsuranceVision InsuranceDental insuranceEmployee Assistance ProgramsTeam Member Referral ProgramWellbeing ProgramCareer development opportunitiesThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature of the work performed by the employees assigned to this job.
