Role Description The Assistant News Director is a full-time, on-site role based in Boise, ID. This position involves overseeing day-to-day newsroom operations, assisting with editorial decisions, mentoring reporters and producers, and ensuring high journalistic standards in content production. The role also includes coordinating coverage strategies, managing breaking news, and collaborating with the News Director on long-term initiatives to enhance audience engagement and newsroom efficiency. Qualifications Strong leadership skills, including team management, mentoring journalists, and allocating newsroom resources effectivelyEditorial judgment and skills in overseeing content strategy, story development, and ensuring journalistic standardsProficiency in storytelling techniques, script editing, and video production for broadcast and digital platformsAbility to manage live news events, breaking news situations, and coordinate cross-department collaborationKnowledge of media laws, journalistic ethics, and current eventsStrong organizational and time-management abilitiesMinimum of five years of experience in newsroom leadership or senior production rolesBachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field is preferredExperience with digital and social media platforms is a plus
