Texo Systems specializes in commercial security installations that often require field judgment and problem-solving rather than repetitive production installs. Many of our projects involve retrofit installations where technicians must evaluate site conditions and determine a practical installation approach.
This position is best suited for technicians who are comfortable solving installation challenges independently in the field.
Position Overview
Texo Systems is seeking an experienced Field Technician II-III to install and service commercial electronic security systems including access control, CCTV, intrusion systems, and structured cabling infrastructure.
This role is for a technician who can work independently, troubleshoot confidently, and deliver clean installations with minimal supervision. Candidates should be comfortable owning installation quality from rough-in through final device verification.
Skills Evaluation Process
This is not an apprentice or Tech I position. As part of our interview process, candidates will complete a short hands-on wiring and termination evaluation designed to reflect real-world installation scenarios.
This evaluation helps confirm practical installation experience and ensures the role is a good fit for technicians who are comfortable working independently in custom and retrofit environments.
This position includes a 90-day field evaluation period to confirm independent installation ability and alignment with Texo Systems installation standards. During this evaluation period the technician must demonstrate:
· clean cable runs & termination
· correct device wiring and installation
· ability to complete access-control doors independently
· safe work practices
· documentation compliance
Installation Approach Expectations
Because many of our projects involve retrofit environments and customized system layouts, technicians in this role are expected to:
· adapt installation methods to existing building conditions
· identify wiring challenges before they become delays
· recommend practical field solutions when plans need adjustment
· protect finished spaces during installation
· maintain clean routing and termination standards in non-production environments
Key Responsibilities
Install, program, and service security systems including:
- Intrusion alarms
DSC, Honeywell, Bosch, Alarm.com
- CCTV / IP cameras
Panasonic, Axis, Hanwha, Eagle Eye, Digital Watchdog
- Access control systems
DSX, Brivo, DNA Fusion, Monitor Cast
- Video management systems
Hanwha Wave, Video Insight, Milestone, Eagle Eye
Additional responsibilities:
· Run, terminate, label, and test CAT5e / CAT6 cabling
· Install door hardware interfaces (strikes, maglocks, REX, door contacts)
· Configure IP-enabled security devices
· Read and interpret blueprints, risers, and wiring diagrams independently
· Troubleshoot wiring and controller communication issues in the field
· Verify device operation before leaving site
· Maintain professional installation standards in customer environments
· Document installation changes and system configuration details
· Communicate field conditions clearly with project management
· Safely operate company vehicles, lifts, and installation equipment; i.e. drills, band saw, hand tools, etc.
Required Qualifications
OSHA 10 Certification (required)
OSHA 30 (preferred)
TOPS License (Current and active)
5+ years of commercial electronic security installation experience
Strong experience installing:
· access control devices and door hardware interfaces
· IP camera systems
· structured cabling infrastructure
· low-voltage device terminations
Working knowledge of:
· PoE switching & Networking
· Device Addressing
· controller-to-network communication troubleshooting
Ability to complete installations independently with minimal supervision
Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
Ability to pass background check (required for security work)
Installation Quality Expectations
This role requires technicians who:
· terminate cleanly and consistently
· protect customer property during installation
· follow labeling and documentation standards
· identify wiring issues before they become service calls
· verify device functionality before leaving site
Attention to detail is critical for this position.
Preferred Certifications & Experience
Texas Security Installer License (or ability to obtain)
Manufacturer certifications such as:
· Honeywell
· DSC
· Alarm.com
· Brivo
· Axis
· Hanwha
Experience working in:
· Occupied Commercial facilities
· Schools and other Education facilities
· Outdoor Environments
· Retrofit environments
Lift certification or experience working at heights preferred
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Ability to:
· work on ladders and lifts
· work in ceilings and tight spaces
· work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions
· stand and move throughout the workday
· Provide your own basic tools for daily job site use.

Introductory Evaluation Period
This position includes a 90-day introductory evaluation period beginning on your start date. During this time, Texo Systems will evaluate installation quality, technical capability, safety practices, communication, and overall alignment with the responsibilities of a Field Technician II-III role. As part of this evaluation process, installation ability may be reviewed through both structured skills assessments and field performance observation.
Successful completion of this evaluation period typically includes demonstrating the ability to:
complete access control door installations independently
perform clean and consistent cable terminations
verify device functionality prior to leaving job sites
follow company labeling and documentation standards
maintain safe work practices on active job sites
communicate clearly regarding field conditions and installation progress
Completion of the introductory evaluation period does not change the at-will nature of employment. Employment with Texo Systems remains at-will during and after this evaluation period.
Compensation Structure
This position is structured with a starting pay rate based on prior experience and interview performance. During the 90-day introductory evaluation period, Texo Systems will also assess installation quality, technical independence, and alignment with Field Technician III responsibilities.
Following successful completion of the 90-day evaluation period and confirmation of independent installation capability, compensation may be adjusted within the posted pay range based on demonstrated field performance.
Evaluation criteria may include:
cable termination quality and consistency
troubleshooting ability without supervision
adherence to labeling and documentation standards
safe work practices on active job sites
ability to verify device functionality prior to leaving site
Compensation adjustments, if applicable, are determined based on demonstrated installation ability and overall role alignment.
Employment with Texo Systems remains at-will during and after the evaluation period.
