High School Tutor - English, Test Prep

Sylvan Learning is the industry leader in providing supplemental education to children in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. We are seeking smart, dynamic individuals to work with our high school students on preparing for the SAT/ACT and college readiness in reading and writing. In this role, you will be delivering our proven curriculum to students as well as guiding them through self study tools on our proprietary portal. The ideal candidate will also be able and willing to work with elementary and middle school students on reading and math (to your desired comfort level). This position is for in-person work with small groups at our community learning center. Evening and weekend availability is required. RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepares for each instructional session; Gathers and prepares materials as appropriate Greets students and initiates instruction to personally engage each student Instructs students according to the design of the Sylvan programs Manages students, tasks and time to create a balanced and robust instructional session Track and manage individual student performance Uses praise and encouragement to ensure students are engaged and inspired to learn Communicate progress and results to the Center Director Ensure students achieve their highest possible test scores REQUIREMENTS: BA/BS required Teaching Certification required Previous teaching or tutoring experience of high school level ELA is required Previous teaching or tutoring experience of SAT and/or ACT is preferred Evening and weekend availability required We provide the training, curriculum and resources for success!
