The basketball coach will be in-charge of coaching teams playing in various leagues and/or tournaments. Candidates must be flexible in your hours and your approach to management. Candidates must have a background in basketball and experience in training or coaching. The Wave Basketball Club Coach reports directly to the Director of Basketball.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESBe a proven leader, who leads by example both on and off the court.Communicate with players and parents regarding practices, tournaments, and league schedule.Develops and implements comprehensive basketball training programs to ensure client success on and off the courtConduct age-appropriate drillsUtilizes ongoing player evaluations to determine starting levels for new clients and progress for current clients.Requires strong communication skills, both verbal and writtenMust have high energy and enthusiasm throughout all classes and while interacting with guestsMust promote values and culture of the program in every classMust have leadership capabilityMust have good guest service skillsMust be detail-oriented and have outstanding organizational skillsMust have strong time-management skillsAbility to multi-task and prioritizeMust supervise children and ensure the playing/performance area is safe for all participantsMust be able to work irregular shifts to include, nights, weekends, and holidays as neededPerform other duties and responsibilities as needed, required, or assigned by the Director of BasketballAdvocates for Wave Basketball Club in the basketball community. Attend various Wave Basketball Club marketing events to promote the program.Facility CleaningCoaches must know how and be able to setup & take down equipment correctlyCoaches are responsible for keeping equipment organized and sanitizedAfter a shift of classes, coaches will clean the area around the court, and place all equipment in the appropriate storage space.Customer ServiceIn order to provide the best possible guest service, coaches will take time with new participants & parents and orient them to the programCoaches are expected to have detailed knowledge of the facility and programs offeringsCoaches will be responsible with distributing hand-outs and information updates to their participants, parents and potential guestsCoaches are expected to greet participants and parents at the beginning of each classCoaches are expected to acknowledge and speak with all participants and parents at the conclusion of each classTrainingAs the Coach gains experience, they may be asked to participate in training new employeesCoaches will attend all training sessions assigned by the Lead Basketball TrainersRequirementsHigh school playing experience preferredStrong Knowledge of the game of basketballPrior coaching experience coaching/training with youth playersAbility to provide meaningful feedback to players and parents.Positive role model and high energy characterEducation and/or Experience: High school education; or up to one-month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual must have working knowledge of Google Suite.
