Position: Seasonal Parks Facilities Crew SupervisorDepartment: Parks & RecreationDivision: Parks Facilities MaintenanceRate of Pay: $19.20/hr.Nature of WorkThis is a temporary seasonal leadership position responsible for supervising and working alongside a three-person summer maintenance crew to complete parks facility improvement projects throughout the City of Hattiesburg park system during a designated nine-week summer period. This position is highly hands-on and labor intensive, requiring daily outdoor work in the heat of summer with occasional indoor assignments as project needs require.The Seasonal Parks Facilities Crew Supervisor will oversee the completion of construction, repair, restoration, maintenance, and upgrade projects at designated park facilities and recreation locations. He or she should lead by example by actively participating in all assigned tasks while ensuring projects are completed efficiently, safely, and to a high standard.Duties and Responsibilities• Supervise and work directly with a three-person seasonal crew on daily assigned maintenance and construction projects.• Complete facility repairs, restoration projects, and general upgrades at designated park locations.• Perform carpentry, painting, pressure washing, minor demolition, installation, and general labor tasks as needed.• Coordinate daily project assignments, materials, and workflow to ensure timely completion within the nine-week schedule.• Monitor quality of work and ensure all crew members are following direction and maintaining productivity.• Operate city vehicles, trailers, lawn equipment, hand tools, and light construction equipment as necessary.• Identify facility maintenance concerns and assist in implementing practical repair solutions.• Ensure all work is performed in accordance with city safety standards and proper equipment use.• Maintain a clean and organized worksite at each project location.• Perform other duties as assigned.Knowledge/Skills• Strong working knowledge of construction, repair, and facility maintenance practices.• Ability to effectively lead, direct, and manage a small field crew while maintaining productivity.• Experience operating hand tools, power tools, lawn equipment, trailers, and light machinery.• Ability to organize multiple work sites, prioritize projects, and meet completion deadlines.• Strong problem-solving ability with practical decision-making in the field.• Ability to work safely and efficiently in outdoor summer conditions.• Effective communication and leadership skills.Qualifications• Minimum of five (5) years of experience performing construction, maintenance, facility repair, or similar hands-on field work required.• Minimum of one (1) year experience in a supervisory, crew lead, project management, or similar leadership role preferred.• Demonstrated ability to oversee work quality, direct staff assignments, and manage project completion timelines.• Must possess a valid Mississippi Driver's License.
