Civil Engineer, Land Development (Starlink)

We've only begun to scratch the surface of Starlink's potential global impact.As a Civil Engineer on the construction projects team, you will work with a group of elite engineers across multiple disciplines to design, build, and activate infrastructure for a variety of projects at the Starlink production facility. This is a hands-on role that is responsible for the planning and execution of new facility construction and renovation projects with emphasis on heavy civil and utility components. You will work with construction project managers, facility engineers, designers, vendors, and internal partners/customers to support these goals. You will have the opportunity to drive positive change and own projects from start to finish, with the goal of making the SpaceX campus a world-class manufacturing facility.RESPONSIBILITIES:Develop and issue drawings, design documentation, and reports for industrial, manufacturing, and commercial-type land development projectsPerform all calculations necessary for grading and drainage, stormwater control facilities, water quality, domestic water distribution, and other underground utilitiesDrive coordination and design necessary to obtain local, state, and federal permits as it relates to land development and utility construction projectsManage the civil aspects of construction projects in the field: Including quality control, conflict resolution, and coordination of a multi-discipline contractor teamInteract with contractors, fabricators, owners, and internal clients to develop project requirements, schedules, and cost estimates prior to project implementationResolve design and construction conflicts in real-timeBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:* Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or other engineering discipline* 1+ years of professional experience in civil engineering design, analysis, and draftingPREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:4+ years of professional experience in civil engineering design, analysis, and draftingEIT or Professional Engineering (PE) licensePrevious experience with civil design software packages like StormCAD, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, WaterCAD, PCSWMMExperience with AutoCAD Civil3D (grading to create a Civil 3D surface file, earthwork volume takeoffs, plan and profile creation, base model setup among other items)Knowledge of processes of governing permitting and/or environmental agenciesUnderstanding of other disciplines such as electrical, piping, geotechnical, electrical, and surveyingExperience with project management of major construction projects including estimating, cost control, schedule, and contractor managementExperience reading, reviewing, and approving shop and fabrication drawings, blueprints, and technical manualsADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:Ability to work at elevated heights, in indoor and outdoor environments (heat, cold, rain, snow)Physical effort including standing, lifting, and carrying moderately heavy materials or equipment (up to 25 lbs. unassisted)Ability to work in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, and noiseMust be available to work extended hours and weekends when needed based on site operational needsAbility to provide on-call support in emergenciesOccasional travel may be required based on specific project tasksAbility to work onsite at our Bastrop, TX facility (Remote work not considered)Valid driver's licenseITAR REQUIREMENTS:* To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
